Would sweet potatoes go nicely with a slow cooked pot roast?

I am going to use a crock pot for the first time ever tomorrow and wondering what to dump in with the pot roast.

I guess I need to get a can or two of cream of mushroom soup, right?

In my opinion sweet potatoes would go nicely with anything, but when served with pork it is a marriage made in heaven. Center cut porkchop, boston butt, pork loin, all are made better by the sweet potato.

It's not going to hurt a pot roast either. But I usually prepare a pot roast with carrots, parsnips, celery, and regular potatoes in the same roasting pot.

I wouldn't use the mushroom soup if I were you- but I love a natural au jus for the veg and the roast.

My lunch today is a sweet potato with pulled pork on it.
The sweet and savory go together well

I'd use some French onion soup instead...or some dawn fresh mushroom and steak sauce...I add this to roast beef gravy...

Not sweet potatoes or cream of anything. Dust the roast with seasoned flour and brown. Put it in the crock pot and dump cubes up regular potatoes, onion, carrots, celery and mushrooms. 2 packs of onion soup mix.

Golden Mushroom soup instead of Cream of Mushroom.

Sweet potatoes will get very mushy slow cooked with a pot roast. I’d opt for regular potatoes like others have said.

Bake the sweet potatoes on the side if you really want to use them, or make sweet potato fries.

Smoked Boston Butt or an oven cooked pork roast with slits cut in it for garlic, green onion, parsley, salt and pepper and some baked sweet potatoes is one of my favorite comfort meals.

Easy to fix, damn good to eat and there's usually leftovers for munching on for the next couple days.

Any root vegetable should go well with a pot roast.

No cream of XYZ soup. The roast will make plenty of broth. When you remove toast to shred, add corn starch and stir well. Turns the broth into a nice silky gravy.

I only add onion & mushrooms to my roast, and serve with cauli rice to go with the gravy. Nobody in my family likes cooked carrots.

Heck yeah they would.
Texture of a tater, sweetness of a carrot!

Yes. My friend's grandmother would slow cook her roast with sweet potatoes, onion, garlic, celery and carrots. It was fantastic, so I have been doing the same for years now.

I wouldn't. Just use the above veggies and some seasoning that you like. When it's done you can make a roux and thicken up the cooking liquid from that.
