Anybody ever heard of anybody with Takomo irons?

After the not so great fitting this past week, I want to give them a look. One thing the fitting confirmed was that my eBay irons I have are way too long. Whoever had them before me must have been very tall. I’m often choking way down on my clubs and my irons are easily the weakest part of my game.
Of course to get my handicap down I am looking into lessons but I also want clubs that fit me without having to greatly modify my grip just to swing them normally. These seem to have a great price point and have solid reviews wherever I look.
Anybody familiar with these?
ETA: bought a set of Tacomo 101s with the 7 being allowed to be used as a demo. Also “bought” a demo set of Sub70 699s. I will test both out at our range and see which I like best. I think worst case I will be out $50 on the Tacomos as they don’t refund shipping. Hopefully I like either.

They are good enough for PGA players. They are good irons. Ignore the price as it does not mean they are lesser quality.
Sub70 and Tour Edge are also good brands in the value line.
Styx is also a really good place for beginner sets.

Great. I got the 101 with the light shaft and regular flex. Can’t wait to use them. Price point is hard to beat. Made me feel much better compared to dropping a grand or more on something.

I have almost pull the trigger on some multiple times. Now, I am focused on Maltby.

Let me know how you like them. The I’m debating getting the 101’s as well.

Will do. Should have them within a week. Actually found a thread from a few months ago here of people debating 101s vs Sub 70 690 (can’t remember the exact model number?

You can have your clubs cut down. Any decent fitter should be able to handle that.
I’ve heard good things about the tokomo irons. I’m interested in a set myself.

I’ve been on the fence on the these
Main issue is I don’t know which ones to get. I currently play with MP 32’s.
I think I will probably get the 101 and 301MB combo set. Blades for 8,9,PW and the player cavity backs for the 4-7 irons.

Only issue is I am currently using bubble shafts. They actually bulge out towards the grips. I don’t actually think those can be cut down. The grips I have now barely fit. If I shortened them the bulb would start protruding into the grip area.

Oh, yeah sorry I missed that detail. Right now it’s a fantastic time to try some new stuff as it seems most everyone in the DTC space is making great equipment. The way I look at it is if you can buy a great set of irons at Costco you can buy them anywhere.

Yeah I’m excited. I seem locked into either Sub 70 or Takomo so we will see who wins. Thankfully I get unlimited range access at my club

Maltby is a great brand at the price point. I love their wedges and they are insanely priced when in stock

I have had my 101Ts for about a year and a half. I absolutely love them. Granted I upgraded from 17 year old Nikes to these but the difference is crazy.
I had an issue with my 9 iron. the metal plating or whatever on the head itself started to peel away. Sent pictures to the company. They were very apologetic and replaced it within a week. Very good customer service.

Mine come Wednesday. It says you can use the 7 iron as a demo club. My 699 demos came today and I hit them pretty well. I’m upgrading from Burner LCGs which I think are from the 90s. So my clubs are like 25+ years old. Can’t wait to test out the 7 iron against the 699 demo and my current gamer.

Are your burner bubbles S or R flex?

How do you feel about the 101s? Did you like and keep them?

I tried some 101Ts almost 2 years ago now. Hated the feel of them, but to be fair, I hate the feel of pretty much every hollow bodied iron I hit (TM P770, Titleist T200). I'd be open to trying the 301 CBs if I'm in the market.

Got my 101s a few weeks ago. Played one round and one range session with them. I like them. My 7 iron makes a ping noise if I hit it off the toe, but that’s really my only complaint so far. I just need to hit it in the middle of the face.
