Planning a trip to the Texas hill country later this month and looking to play two rounds of golf. We're staying near Dripping Springs and from what I can find online it looks like our best options are Falconhead, Vaalar, Kissing Tree or Grey Rock. Which course would everyone recommend and are there any other courses I'm missing?
TIA

if you are going with a wife, quicksand in wimberly is ok. you can drop her off and let her wander around the shops while you play.

Fredericksburg. Nimitz Museum. LBJ ranch. Luckenbach.
Get the schnitzel, bbq and beer. Forget that sheet Texas wine and Austin...I wish this was Cali vibe that collection of leftist progressive pseudo-intellectual arse hats is peddling.

I'd go with Grey Rock out of that group.

I live here in the drip/driftwood area. Played all of them. If you are talking strictly just golf, Valaar Creek is my favorite course. Pros: Lots of hills, challenging well groomed layout and very quiet out there. cons: Doesn’t have a clubhouse bar, just a covered snack shop area with hot dogs/sandwiches to eat. Kissing Tree is my 2nd favorite. Well maintained and forgiving, wide fairways. Has an awesome bar in middle of development (it is a Troon golf development) and the real estate side was developed by the folks that put Atlantis in the Bahamas together. The snack shop at the turn is really cool and worth stopping in to see all the photos on the wall. You can’t go wrong at Grey Rock either. Course is good, usually well maintained and has a nice bar too. It doesn’t have as many of the hill country elevation changes like the other courses do. I also like The Bandit, located about 30-40 miles south of Austin. Quicksand in Wimberly is a step down in quality in every way, but I do think it is fun and a value course for about half the cost of the others. Greens have plenty of undulation challenges and there are plenty of elevation changes too. There also is a cool driving range called "Dripping Springs Country Club" that has top tracer and a liquor license.

Yes
I have this suspicion that they pull water straight from the blanco. Course is always phenomenal

The driftwood course is going to be a massive, upscale PUD. It is still under construction (still moving dirt for the roads)

Ha...
My buddy backs up to the course from a neighboring subdivision. He has snuck out a few times to walk around, only to be chased away by security.
If you wanna be neighbors with Spieth, George Strait, and gay Aaron Rodgers...then that's your place...as long as you have a couple million to drop on a lot.

Riverhills CC will let you on if you have a club to recipricate. If you aren't all that serious and want to bring your kids try Willie Nelsons cut & putt.

kissing tree is nice but the course design is boring. its old man golf. short holes, not a lot of elements to the holes, seems like the whole course is built for a straight 230 yd drive
