I have agreed to help organize a scramble for a K-12 school in Dallas, trying to figure out how much $$$ to charge people.

Is $300/team about right? Could I get more? (It's $20,000/year to attend this school)

Which course is it and what is your break even. If it's even a slightly decent course i wouldn't even think of going less than $400 per team, as long as they all get a little something.

I think $500 is pretty standard, and don’t recall playing in one for less. For a private school with that kind of tuition, I think you could go $600 easily.

*But a lot of that is going to be dictated by the course. You need to find out what they’ll charge you first.

Yea I know, I’m just trying to get a general idea.
My original thought was $500 and everyone gets a sleeve of ProV1’s, tees, a kookier with school logo, golf towel with logo, and gold shirt with logo. Sounds like I should stick to that.

I’m also selling hole sponsorships. I was thinking $1000/hole or $650 if you wanted 1/2 a hole (share sponsorship with someone else)

Depends on tee gift, amenities, course.

IF you have an awesome tee gift and great food you can charge more.

Sponsorships are crucial.

You could get up to $200 per player with a great course and an awesome tee gift.

Mulligans, putting contest, closest to hole and longest drive are also fun things to do that are easy money IF you price as a package. So 2 mulligans, entry to all contest for $25 per player raises $100 per group. Most people will do this.

Also, people love 50/50 raffles.

Focus your prizes on tee gifts. Cheaters tend to try to win so just give a trophy and a round of golf to winners.

In summary, invest in a great course and nice tee gifts.

At our Robert Jones Trail course, our Auburn Club tournament charges 125 a player/500 a team but we don't make much on the players. You make your money on hole sponsors and donations. Our swag bag usually has an UA or Nike polo with Auburn logo on it, some misc donated swag and free lunch there. Closest to the pin and long drive are usually a putter or driver.

My wife works at a Child Abuse Center and they charge more and fill up fast, everyone wants to give money to them as fast as they can. They raise cray amounts of money in their tournament.

Free beer from a couple of kegs - then have a silent auction - if you have good sponsors, you can make some cash that way.

Also, sell mulligans, free tee shot - all that shite...and have nice prizes for longest drive / close to hole - but have someone watching it.

Someone already said it - have a small plaque for the winner - nothing more.

You aren’t going to be making very much money at $300/team. I would think $500/team at a minimum.

I wouldn't charge that much for a hole sponsorship, but then again, I wouldn't limit it to 1 or 2 sponsors per hole. I've played in tournaments with 4 or 5 signs on every tee box. I guess it depends how many you think you can get. 18 $1,000 hole sponsorships would be hard to come by in my market but maybe not yours. Many times in school tournaments such as these, the ones playing golf are also business owners that are sponsoring a hole. So maybe do a hole sponsorship and 4 man team entry fee packaged into one with a slight break on the price.

$600/team is the cheapest I’ve ever played in, and I play in probably 8 per year for work.

The last two I have played were $400/team. If you want to sponsor a hole and have a team play, it was $600. Also sold mulligans at $25. I would think you could do $500/team no problem as I am sure the courses in Dallas are top notch.

100-175 a man depending on what you are offering to bring them in as well as cover your cost and make a nice charitable donation to what you are doing charity wise.
