I searched the board to see if there has been a discussion on different brands but did not find one. I did find that a lot of folks bought the powerblocks.

I am looking for a set that can go up to at least 80lbs and willing to consider any recommended brand. The power blocks look like they are nice, bu I am wondering if the shape of them gets in the way. I see advertisements for Smrtft on Facebook all the time. From a looks standpoint, it’s what I am looking for but don’t know anyone that has gotten them.

Any recommendations?

I'm going on like 3 yrs with nuobells. At the time they felt the most like a real dumbell, I also never drop them so I'm not afraid of breaking them. If I were to upgrade I'd wait for the Rep x Pepin collab in Nov. Those should be sick!

Love my powerblocks. I have the level 2 expansion that goes to 70lbs and will eventually add the 90lb expansion.

I was concerned about the shape of the powerblocks, as well, but took a chance and bought them anyway. To my surprise, the shape is a non issue. And honestly, the more I use them, the more I actually like the shape and design.

Adjustable dumbbells that go up to 70 (I only got the stage two package) for less than $300 was an insanely great deal. Id suggest holding off and hoping they go on sale again.

the best will be the rep/pepin fast series

then its a big drop off...

powerblocks are the most proven over time, have amazing customer service and the shape is not an issue

the nuobell and like designed one are great but they have a lot of plastic pieces that can break easily

the rep ones are good but only go to 50lbs

the bowflex kind of suck compared to the others

then you have ones like the regular pepin, the ironmasters and even just the handles from rogue etc....those are not quick change

so either wait and pay the money for the rep ones or get the powerblocks or nuobells. all are good.

Any thoughts on Snode?
Reviews have them as more durable than Nuobell and they go up to 80. Ten pound increments but can get magnet sets for smaller adjustments.

I need to upgrade mine soon (Nordictrack were cheap and good but go to 55) and debating Snode or the Rep x Pepin

I bought two sets of threaded handles and multiple iron plates. If I’m doing a superset type workout I can set up a light/medium or a medium/heavy and have 4 dumbbells ready to go. I also have several sets of fixed weight and a dumbbell stand that has plate storage. Much cheaper than the adjustable ones and it’s just easier for me to grab a different set than try to adjust on the fly.

Snodes are supposed to be better than Noubells but still think the best are repxpepin and powerblocks

I’ll eventually upgrade to the reppin but I got to get a gate timing system, a the foldable reverse hyper and replace my rogue ghd with the freak athlete Nordic first before I do any upgrades

I have 3 sets of adjustable dumbells(wife and I work out together).

In any case, I have a set of the bowflex ones which are probably 10 years old at this point. They are fine, except you have to adjust both ends of the dumbell to select weight and if it's slightly off you can't pull them out of the rack easy. So can be a little finicky, but at this point 10 years old it's held up. The shape of the dumbells make it hard to certain maneuvers though.

I also have two of nuobells, a 50lb and 80lb set. I have had them less than a year, so hard to comment on long term quality, but they seem fine, easy to adjust have a normal dumbell shape. I would buy again at this point

We have two sets of the BowFlex adjustable dumbbells in our office gym.

One goes up to 52.5lbs, the larger one goes up to 90lbs. We got them off of Facebook Marketplace, which is one of the best places to find used gym equipment.

The larger set hurts my hands though. Like the shape of the handle digs into my palms in a strange way.
