Am I doing too much cardio?

So I am 5'9 and 160 lbs. I started OMAD three years ago and went from 190 lbs down to 160(fasting is incredible btw)
My current workout plan is:
Lift weights hitting all muscle groups on Sunday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
I do cardio on my elliptical for an hour a day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I shoot for burning around 900 calories during this time.
I am just wondering if it is too much cardio as it is quite time-consuming; however, keeps me in shape and helps me sleep. Thanks!

I mean you could definitely cut back and still keep "in shape" in a cardiovascular sense. 900 cal/hr is pretty intense.

Thanks and to be fair it probably isn't quite that many calories; however, that is what the elliptical says lol

What are your goals? Do you want more muscle?

I guess to tone up a little bit while also not dedicating so much time to exercising every day.

lol then stop doing cardio, prioritize protein big time and start focusing on building strength and size.
what do your current macros/calories look like
i suggest greyskull aesthetics template...can be found here
if you want something different, pen and paper strength app grasshopper or arm farm or you can do 531...i suggest the beginner prep school template.
another option is greek god program by kinobody.
the bottom line is at 160lbs..you have no muscle. period. you are doing way way too much cardio and not eating enough.

I do a lot of cardio too. Nothing wrong with cardio everyday. You sound like your in pretty good shape physically.
Numbers on machines and watches are a great guide for day to day performance. Not really accurate for calorie count.
So I’d say no to too much cardio if you enjoy it.
Are you asking because your trying to put on muscle?

Before reading I can tell you the answer is yes.
But seriously, your goals are very attainable.
At the very least, cut the cardio in half. 30 minutes a day tops. If I'm reading the workout split right, try to get away from full body workouts every day. It's hard to break down the muscle effectively like that.
If your diet is unchecked and you're eating whatever you want, you probably can keep the cardio (the halved value, 30 minutes a day). If your macros are on point, the cardio is likely hurting your gains. Try to get minimum 175 g protein a day either way. Edit: Missed the OMAD. May be fine for losing weight as your only goal, otherwise I hate OMAD. Get off that now that you've dropped the weight.

it always is

ill say this for anyone out there, unless you just like doing cardio, if you are doing more than 15 min and it isnt one of the following, you are doing too much
1) strongman type stuff
2) sprinting
3) boxing
4) hard conditioning like the CF football wods, the greyskull conditioning, bodyweight conditioning, sprints on rower/airdyne etc
i didnt include walking or just biking with the kids or playing sports with the kids...thats what we train for anyways.
if you are doign bball or pickle ball or some sport...again thats why we train to start with
other than that...yes you are doing too much cardio unless you have a specific reason for it, just like doing it or you have testing for it.
if you just want to look good and you are jogging...yes you are doing too much cardio

if your goal is to look better and you are not using the DC training when it comes to food/cardio/training....then yea doing cardio everyday is way too much and there is something wrong with that.
if he is 5'9 and 160 and not ripped and wants to look better...then he needs to add muscle, period.

I don't care what your Fitbit says. You ain't burning 900 kcals in an hour on the elliptical if you weigh 160 lbs.
Lift progressively heavier weights. That's all I got.

I do zero traditional cardio but do HIIT training 3-4 week. Much less time consuming. Highly recommend.

Are you doing any cardio?
If the answer is yes, then, yes, you’re doing too much cardio.

Cardio is training the heart muscle, your respiratory system, and the vascular system. Cardio is what will help increase your VO2 Max which is directly correlated to longevity. You build VO2 Max through base aerobics and HITT in a combination of roughly 80/20.

If we really wanted to get spicy throwingh in the data and peer reviewed studies on animal protein and how shifting even just a portion of protein sources to plant based remarkably impacts longevity, cognitive function and body function but that is a hornets nest generally best left unprovoked.

If we really wanted to get spicy let's post side by side pics and see whose protein is better

But for real, comparing a peer reviewed study on protein to "a hornet's nest best left unprovoked" seems a bit of a stretch. Deep breaths, we're having good fun here. I'm not knocking your plant protein - if that's what works for you, keep it up. I never said he's gotta eat two chickens a day.
And to be clear - the answer to his question is still very much, firmly, and patently "he is doing too much cardio". Not sure how we started talking about protein..
