Looking at turning an extra room into a home gym and this trainer caught my eye. Does anyone have any experience with this machine? It will actually be upstairs. With all of the upgrades like bumper plates, bench, and attachments it will be about $4k. Ceilings are 10ft. The room is 12’8” x 16’6”

Thanks for the link. Looks pretty solid on first blush.

the force gets decent reviews, but i would look at bolt or rep to be honest

i would look to get a rack, plus the cable trainer. get you an adjustable bench(either getrxd or rep or rogue)
get adjustable DBs
nice bar
plates
get a lat pulldown seat and row from stray dog that will fit your rack
get gymnastics rings
get a adjustable weighted vest
now all of that is expensive, so i suggest buying the rep 4 or 5000 and upgrade later or if you live in houston area go visit bolt and getrxd and see what kind of deal you can get.

I'm no structural engineer so this would concern me. Maybe it's fine, I don't know.
Garage Gym Reviews is pretty good. Look on there to see if they've reviewed it. I can attest to Rep. I have one and it's great.
For the cable system you can honestly just make one at home and attach plates to it. Or buy something like this for cheap, but maybe replace the handles with something more durable if you're going to be lifting heavy weights

depends on what it is framed like. i would atleast build or buy a platform and set it up opposite the truss run.

Have had one in basement for 3 years. Works great. IMO best bang for your bucks.

Agree with you. I had a contractor look at it with me. There’s a wall below which is staggered with the workout room so that the wall is pretty much center with the machine above—not sure if that makes sense or not. A platform is an idea too. We’ve just got a subfloor in that room at the moment so we could probably do something underneath before adding the workout flooring

so i am a structural engineer. you should be fine with that wall below from a static standpoint, but dynamically and specifically on the sub floor you will not be ok.
you will need a platform, period to protect the subfloor, distribute the dynamic load over as much space as possible. and use bumpers.
