When should I consume protein powder?

I’ve been working out for years with no supplements. I’ve been listening to some podcast that recommends a protein shake after every workout. I usually walk for 30 minutes in the morning and do strength/cardio in the afternoons. Do I need a protein shake after the morning walk as well or just after the afternoon workout? I usually don’t eat breakfast for what it’s worth. Based on the advice I’ve read on this board, I’m probably lacking in my protein intake even though I mainly eat a keto diet

I don’t think it really matters when you consume your protein. Time it for whatever helps you stay full through out the day.
It may matter for body builder types but I’m not sure.
If you’re doing keto, you are probably getting enough protein or getting close. Just weigh your food for a couple weeks and see what you average. Doing this can be a real eye opener for a lot of people.

it doesnt too much, best practice though is still to have a fast acting protein in liquid form after strength training, preferably in the first hour and not because of some "anabolic window" although nutrition partitioning is highest in that window, but more to help start recovery immediately.

no different than anyone else, but usually more diligent in timing

doubtful....unless someone is tracking closely like you said, usually an eye opener
OP- it doesnt matter too much in the grand scheme. I can sit here and tell you...do this or that to be perfect but in the end...if you hit 1-1.5g of protein per lbs of bw or muscle mass if obese, and you stay in a caloric deficit....you will lose weight and maintain muscle. so the answer to the original question is take it whenever you want

but best way is just take 40-50g of protein after the strength session.

which i would argue is a better choice....i understand that isolate has higher Bv% but the thermic effect from 2 lbs of beef is enormous....prolly greater than 20%

It doesn’t matter. Just hit your daily protein goals.
