House wash spray products, what does everyone recommend? I have Hardi-Plank on my home and dirt and all kinds of debris seem to get attracted to it and stick to very easily.

On the products out there, what about those “spray on and forget” types. Do they harm grass and landscape plants? Traditional sprays? Home made recipes?

This is a fantastic product and I've used it on my hardiboard, but be aware that it contains a high concentration of bleach. Protect your plants (I spray them with water before and after application). Also, be aware that it can be too strong for some applications. I ran into a problem when I sprayed some old, painted aluminum siding. It damn near took the paint off.

So, its a great product, but use it with caution.

I tried one of the "spray it and forget it" types and it did not do a good job. Still had mildew and it did not go very far (bang for your buck).

Jomax with household bleach is a good alternative, too. It is much less harmful to your landscape plants.

Same here. I don't know if it is the best, but it worked well for me.

Wet and Forget did get the plants. Possible that I should have watered them down more before and after, however.

Are you guys using a concentrate with the 30sec and a pump sprayer/power washer or what? Do you use the hose end bottle sprayer? How do you reach high areas of the house (dormers or gables)?

I’ve used it a few times, but feel like I’m always fighting the process. Wondering if there’s a better way I’m missing.

just mix with water as directed. I have a diaphragm pump up backpack sprayer that can reach my gutters, dormer, gables from the ground.

Directions I think say you just need to rinse with garden hose, but I still like to use the pressure washer just for the rinsing.

Does it harm vinyl fascia and siding? I was told not to bleach them.

They’re all some combination of detergents and bleach, and they all work well. I typically use one in a green hose-end sprayer. Just wet any plants beforehand and rinse them promptly and they will all be fine. One word of caution….bleach is a heavy oxidizer, so don’t contact any steel or it will rust (including exposed nail heads).

Bumping this thread for questions.

Any idea if this will work on shingles and whether or not it’s safe on them?

Most of all WEAR GOGGLES. I was pressure washing it off with just sunglasses. Big mistake. My eyes burned for an hour.
