Best reel mower sharpening kit?

Do I want a handheld sharpener that sharpens the blades like a knife or the lapping compound type kit?

You don’t want to sharpen that yourself. You can get a back lapping kit and do that. I send my reel off to get sharpened every year or two.

This is what I'm referring to. Sold by the company that makes the mower.

That’s a push reel? I have seen those kits before. Might help but if you want a good like new sharpen then find a professional or might be cheaper to buy a new mower. After you sharpen make sure you adjust your gaps between blade and bed knife. Paper test is the tried and true method. Watch your fingers

Who do you send your reel to?

A guy I know that services commercial mowers. I paid about $300 last time I got it sharpened. But it’s like new when I get it back.

I backlap. It is very frustrating until you really figure out what you are doing.

I think that's what I'll do. Saw a guy on YouTube hook a drill to his reel. Will try.
