If anyone has experience with Daiken, let me know what you think. I have been quoted on a Daikin and Carrier 14 seer unit and was wanting to know which to go with. I’ve heard of Carrier but not it Daikin. The Daikin has a better warranty and the cost between the 2 is very similar. Let me know what y’all think of each.

TIA

Pretty large brand. They own Goodman and Amana I think. Every brand seems to be shitty now compared to stuff 30 years ago

Carrier for me. But I’d have them change to a USA capacitor.

The main thing is the contractor doing the install. Cheap equipment installed well will do better than expensive equipment installed cheaply.

This.

Did either firm do a load calculation for sizing or discuss sizing and existing ductwork with you? Does either do a commissioning report after the install? Which contractor spent the most time up in your attic looking things over, etc. One way to help distinguishing between the thoroughness of contractors.

Daikan I believe is the largest HVAC manufacturer in the world. I’ve read they have the best manufacturer’s warranty in the residential HVAC business. Carrier has the name brand recognition.

I’d focus more on the reputation and reviews of the HVAC installing contractor more so than either the unit is Daikan or Carrier. I personally would not have a problem with installing a HVAC by either manufacturer provided I was convinced I had a top notch installing contractor.

I like the recommendation suggesting you have the HVAC contractor change the capacitor in the new unit either Daikan or Carrier with a good American capacitor like AmRad if the capacitor in the new HVAC is a Chinese made. Save the Chinese capacitor as an emergency spare.

This is a new construction and my builder and I have gone over everything with several HVAC companies. My builder recommended this company and they do Carrier and Daikin. As I learned about Daikin and it’s warranty, I agreed to go with Daikin but I wanted to come to this board and see if there were any negative reviews of Daikin or if I should go with Carrier. I have talked to several HVAC guys that I know and some aren’t familiar with Daikin so I was reaching out to the masses.

Daikin built a monstrous facility outside of Houston near Waller.

I had a Lennox wear out and compared all sorts for replacement. Daikin had the best warranty.

Had it for about 3 years now - no problems at all.

If your builder and you are happy with the HVAC contractor that’s the most important part. Daikan is a Japanese firm with, so I’m led to believe from reading, the Japanese philosophy of manufacturing reliable products and standing behind them with excellent manufacturers warranty - think of Toyota’s and Honda’s manufactured in the USA. I just learned the HVAC company I use in BR who is a Trane dealer is now also carrying and installing the Daikan products as well. As the the other poster also stated their manufacturing plant outside of Houston is the largest in the USA.

I don’t know if these videos by a HVAC tech will help but I just happened to watch both the past week. One on Daikan and one on Carrier. I’m having a change out on my system this winter, and though I haven’t decided on the installer or manufacturer I would not have an issue installing either Daikan or Carrier.
