trying to get a ballpark figure for labor cost of removing carpet/wooden floors and installing tile.
1100 square feet and Lowe's quoted me 8K for labor cost.
The lady reading me the quote over phone said, "Wow, that is really high."

I would see how much they are charging for removal. You could get 2 Mexicans for that part.

I've had Lowe's quote work before. Never again. They sell payments, not low cost. They were ALWAYS double the cost of other contractors.
Example: replace a central air system. Lowe's wanted over $15k, but I got quotes from contractors as low as $7400.

I provided a couple of different prices including removal, additional removal if the tile is on concrete, labor only and install including labor material and equipment. The window opened on the right side of the photo shows all the labor, equipment and material that got to the total sf price.
I am an insurance adjuster, my advice after years of dealing with this is to go to a real flooring store for flooring work.

This is a rough estimate for all the work

Lowe's estimates are always insanely high. You're better off finding someone else to do the job.

Wicks numbers match almost identically with my quote from a flooring store here.

Don’t understand the $800 to remove the snap lock laminate. That’s would take 30 minutes to remove.

You are correct, but that is still the going market rate price.

Not to hi-jack, but wick are you an independent adjuster?

Would like to ask a few questions about getting into that if you wouldn't mind answering a few questions through email?

Tile installation runs about $3 per square ft(for flooring) in the BR area. That does not include demo or crack membranes etc

I've done enough tile to know how much it sucks to do it .. but damn that is expensive.
