It’s too late to get rid of the stickers. You can kill them with atrazine if you have the right grass but the stickers are already there. Any reputable garden center should be able to help you with what to use if you know which grass you have. Put a reminder in your phone to kill them next year in March. Still spray them now to keep more from growing but the dead ones still hurt.

You might be able to do a couple of low cuts to get rid of them but definitely kill them first.

Good gloves and hand pull them? They come up easy. Put some headphones on and knock them out.

He's likely talking about burr type stickers, not single plants.

Are you talking about Burr Weed (Soliva pterosperna)?

If so Certainty has it listed.

I must have missed some with my pre-emergent in October because I have a few spots of them this year. I'm probably going to give it a try next week.

Pre-emergent sometime in October should do the trick for next year. But short of directly spraying herbicide on them, your window for this year is closed.

I didn't do it last year because I was afraid it would weaken a drought-stressed lawn. Almost all of my St. Augustine died and I've been bombing the yard the past few weeks with bermuda seed and just over a pound of nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft. It's starting to look good if not for those little patches of stickers.

If we don't get an extreme drought this year, I'll hit the yard with a pre-emergent in October and again probably in February.
