Now that I have completely finished hanging all the lights on my house, I will ask the question here that I should have asked before I started. I am a newbie at hanging lights on our house

I have some areas where there just is nothing to attached or hang the strings of lights from. I used the sticky Command Hooks but they just dont do well on stucco. About two out of every 5 will stick and stay. I do like the fact that they come off easy and dont seem to damage anything but the glue just is not that strong.

Are there any other options other than drilling into my house which I am not going to do? My house is concrete block behind the stucco.

TIA

Hot glue gun works great for columns.

You could probably find some specialty clips designed for whatever material/look you are going for.

I cant imagine there is anything that will stick on stucco without fricking it up.

I am afraid you may be right. I think I am done this year but I went through a lot of those command hooks and they are expensive. Next year I may bite the bullet and just drill and put some anchors in the corners and places where I can just leave them up there and reuse them every year.

Should be a metal lathe behind it, right?

Our columns on our front porch are aluminum. So no magnets. Those magnets would work great too for hanging our wreaths.

I have to use ribbons and duct tape on the wreaths to hang them on the porch columns.. I hide the duct tape pretty good..

I get these and clip them on the drip edge. Amazon

For stucco you are going to either have to get creative with wrapping them, or use one of those sticky back hooks (that never work). Unless you want to put permanent holes in it with something like this:

I think those last things will be my eventual answer. I am just not ready to start drilling holes in my new home yet.

I drilled and used TapCon screws to hang my flag mount and two of the hose reels. It that has been it.

I think next year I will do some permanent anchors in specific areas for the lights.

I am using plastic clips on my gutters to hand lights there and I have anchor screws around my windows that are for my storm shutters that help but the garage opening has nothing.

Sounds like a good plan, and minimal damage to the stucco. I'd suggest running a strong piece of nylon cord from one corner to the other and pull it tight before securing it. Then just loop the string of lights over the cord as needed.

When ready to take them down, just cut one end of the nylon cord and let it snake through the wrapped up lights so you can put them away until next year.

That is a great idea and something I never thought of. Thank you.

You're welcome. I too hate to do unnecessary damage to my house and look for ways to minimize it.

Yea, it is brand new and I some what of a neat freak / clean freak. Id hate to be looking up at my expensive home in June and see all kinds of holes and fasteners and think how I did that shite to my beautiful home all for two weeks of fricking lights

Fortunately I will only have to do it in a few locations.
