And by over the counter, I mean that you can buy like at a Home Depot. TIA

Glyphosate/roundup. Unless you're talking about lawn, then probably 24d. I think spectracide makes one in black bottle.

They are all basically the same stuff - 2,4 d, dicamba, and something like sulfentrazone or similar.
Occasionally you might find one with quinclorac.
They work okay. Just be careful regarding the temps when applying. Any hard to eradicate weed is going to need a more selective herbicide.

For broadleaf, grassy, kills everything, doesn’t kill your lawn-if so grass type?

Not really on the grass, we just have a place towards the back of the yard that has some different grass. Last time I bought roundup from a store that wasn’t a a farm dealer, it didn’t really work

Adding 3oz ammonium sulphate/gallon will enhance effectiveness

You have got to identify the weed in order to answer that question. If you want the shotgun effect and don’t care to ID, atrazine has more margin for error. For 2,4-d, you also have a shotgun effect, but don’t apply it when rain is forecast for the next day or two.

If you want a kill-all solution, glyphosate is by far the easiest and best bang for the buck.
Round-Up brand moved away from glyphosate due to the lawsuits and settlements, so it’s not glyphosate anymore. You can get plenty of other options and generic glyphosate at most stores. I generally use the 41% “Compare N Save” from Tractor Supply at 1.5-2 oz/gal.
If you’re looking to kill vines or other hardy growth, you may need a different solution. But for just about all grassy weeds or growth, glyphosate will knock it out.

The HD near me had no product with glyphosate last week when I looked...I'll have to check Tractor Supply...thanks.

Cornerstone from the local co-op.

If you can wait a few days, check out sites like DoMyOwn, they probably have what you’ll need

Any generic glyphosphate 41%. Mix 2oz per gal of water. Add a lil Dawn detergent to mix as a surfactant.

Did you use surfactant? It really is no different. Maybe try again.

Glyphosate is getting harder to find. I think all those ambulance chasers are finally having an effect on the market.
