Sounds like it's trying to spin out whatever ice may have made but isn't working. No ice being produced. Going to turn off the icemaker until we figure it out.

Any idea what is exact problem? Everything else works. Water dispenser is fine. It's a side by side refrigerator.

UPDATE:
Looking inside at the ice tray is now stuck upside down. I’m guessing it tried to turn out any nonexistent ice.

Can get out of sync..can take front plastic piece off and mess with gears if required.

A common problem is the feeder tube that pours water into the tray freezes a little ice plug where the water squirts out of the water tube into the tray.. it will stop it from filling..
can turn it off or melt the ice plug with a hair dryer

If required you can buy after market ice makers off the internet.. usually four screws and an electric connector is all required to mess with to replace

You can buy just a gear replacement but a few bucks more and just pull and change the entire thing.

Are you talking about the plate behind the ice holder? That's the only thing accessible without extra effort. I'll try to get pics tomorrow.

It is a pain but the front cover you see when you open the freezer door does pop off.. at least in the one had.. it was pain and I googled how to get it off.. the gears were exposed and sometimes the main wheel strips out..

Mine was not filling with water and occasionally would make ice but was not full size .. I tracked down a few issue..

First thing was it would click like you described and not make ice or if it did I would find the ice was frozen together like water spilled over it.. I goofed around with the gears trying to get the tray level again … water was spilling out a non level tray…..

Sorta fixed it but often no ice: it was because water was over filling the back part of the tray and would freeze and thus plug the fill tube because residue water would stay in it and freeze in the tube… I melted it and then it would make a load or two of ice and then freeze again..

I finally gave up with trying to repair it and looked at the model number and googled it and found after market replacement.. they were not to bad on price.. the entire ice maker is held on with four : two screws the you need to remove and two other ones you just back out a little and the ice maker slide up and pulls out.. and then one electrical connector.. those square plug types..

Took five -ten minutes to change out.

Pretty sure this is only going to give me access to the control panel:

Ice maker is currently stuck in this position and it will not budge:

I'm almost certain I know what the problem is b/c a very similar issue happened with my parent's ice maker.

Here is what I did - and it will vary based on your model fridge.

What happened with mine (theirs) is the ice on the back side wouldn't eject properly because it became trapped behind the turnwheel ejector. I got a paperclip with some electrical tape in the middle and jumped two of the terminals similar to this:

You'll have to research based on your model but I was able to chip out of the old ice and it worked good as new after cycling.

Good luck

That's what it sounds like to me. This happens with my ice maker when a cube of ice won't eject, but it's more because I broke one of the plastic paddles that ejects one of the cubes. I just free the stuck ice cube with my hand.

I don't have anything pouring nor do I have any ice. Looks like it's completely stuck and that's why it was making a continuous clicking noise every 30 minutes.

Because the ice is frozen to the unit so it won't allow the turnstyle thing to cycle.

Get an ice pick and dig out the old ice that's trapped, jump the two terminals and it may fix it
