I’m looking for recs for a reputable window contractor to do a whole house replacement job. I know of a few but I’m hoping to get recommendations based upon actual first hand experience

I used window world and they were absolute trash. My experience was so bad that they refunded my money and offered a free window. I just took the refund.

Good luck. We paid up front for glass replacement for two windows here in Baton Rouge almost exactly a year ago. The contractor still claims he can't get the glass. I've been trying to get either the glass installed or a refund for the last 9 months. He finally called me a month ago and said he would refund our money. I have not seen a check yet. Guess I'll call him again today and if he doesn't refund us, I'll let you know who not to use in Baton Rouge.

I searched, called, etc. the good ppl have a several month backlog. Call a window company that you want to order the windows from (Marvin/Anderson/plygem/etc) and they have a list of recommended installers.

Stay away from Window World. They are totally trash now. 5 years ago they were great, now we have $20K tied up in a job that's been ongoing for 3 months and they are still screwing things up (that doesn't include the 90 day lead on building the windows).

I used Relief Windows about 10 years ago. Brandon and his peeps are first class. No issues whatsoever.

Whomever you go with, be prepared to wait a long time to get the windows in. It's taking abt 3 months to get the materials

I did relief windows a few years back and had a great experience. The only thing I didn't care for is the "**% discount if you sign the contract in 48 hours" pressure. That said, the work was clean. Windows were great and the price was beyond fair.

I also had one seal fail on a window and no questions they came out and replaced the entire unit. (Not the whole window, but ordered a replacement panel that wrapped in the vinyl and popped it in place in 2 minutes)

In the BTR area it’s Tommy’s windows and doors. Same window as the big boys with lifetime warranty and a much lower price. Replaced all windows in my home about three years ago with no issues at all.

This. You can also have them preglazed with standard IGs. Or get a custom made and have them glaze it into their fixed windows.

I used WW several times no issues. From what I read it depends on the installers. I tried to get some local guys to give me bids (twice) and I called them multiple times asking for a bid. Nothing at all from them.
The second and third time I just called WW and they got the jobs done.

We used Acadian Windows in Destrehan last year. Really good price and way better than Window World.

Just used Acadian Windows to replace windows on my house. Took two months to get windows in but the salesman told me that up front so it wasn’t a surprise. The work was flawless. 5 of my windows were windows on stucco and had no issues. They did start to remove 3 windows that were not being replaced. Screw up on their part but after discussion with management they made it right.
