My mower doenst start unless i spray some carb cleaner in the filter intake. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? Would seafoam spray help it out? I have treated the gas but that didnt seem to help. It will only need the carb cleaner spray when it is cold.

All fluids/oil/oil filter are new and working. it is just the cold starting

Any advice?

Sounds like dirty carb. That fuel may have gummed up during off season. You can take apart and clean, or just order a new carb kit, usually pretty damn cheap.

Maybe the choke? Not sure what type of equipment it is but my Honda self propelled has a wax choke system. When the max welts the pin drops inside and changes the choke setting. Mine was acting like yours because the choke wasn't working. Swapped the part out and back to normal.

this ^^^^^^^

for briggs engines

if its a 1 cylinder, those carbs average about $15 and rebuild kits cost $12

if its a 2 cylinder, those carbs average about $35 and rebuild kits cost $18

so no matter what the problem is, its cheaper to replace a carb than try to clean them.

kohler engine carbs cost a little more than briggs carbs, but its the same premis.

today, its cheaper to replace a carb, than try to clean them.

AND DO NOT GO TO A DEALER TO BUY IT

the dealer will charge you $60-$100 for the same carb you can buy at ebay or amazon for $15

another note is, you use the engine type and model number to buy carbs, not the mower model number

So it runs fine after the starting fluid?

If so, it’s probably the carb. As mentioned, it’s cheaper to just buy a new one for your engine model.

I’d also suggest to flush the gas if it sat for a while and is giving you trouble.

This should be the one.

They also have some with service kits included (air filter, oil filter, and plugs), if you're interested in going ahead and knocking out a full service.

Make sure the cable is adjusted where the choke is completely closing!

Came to say the same thing. I had this same issue on my Kohler. I knew the carb was in good shape. The choke cable was loose and wasn’t allowing the choke to fully close. Adjusted the cable and it fired right up.

Make sure your throttle cable hasn’t slid a bit in the cable clamp on the carb and it is not really operating the butterfly valve in the carb when throttle is at choke setting. You can fix this by adjusting the cable at the clamp when the throttle is a full choke.

It’s a dirty carb.
You can YouTube cleaning a carburetor.
Get some micro drill bits from Amazon. Or a welders tip clean out tool. Use them to clean primary jet and the pilot jet.
Make sure to take a picture or label fuel lines.
