I'm not sure Lonn is the most reliable source on this but it should not be shocking if it does turn out true. Player retention about to get expensive.

Lonn needs to update his site

Anyways, it's probably true. I'd imagine a lot of universities going hard after Durham.

I'm sure there's tons of tampering going on right now with him. Every university does it especially right now in NIL era. He's not going to admit it public but Lonn just pulling something out of his butt is also likely.

Lonn is a buffoon and anyone who takes anything he puts out as serious is in the same category.

This. $1.5 million a season is top QB money. Durham has been good this season, but nowhere near elite. if this offer were true I'd be made at Caden if he didn't take it.

Didn't one of Duncanville's coaches go to Oregon? Maybe the HC's son? I believe that I recall that from the DK Moore recruitment. All that is to say, there is an ongoing connection with some folks at Oregon so I'm sure that they are trying to get his ear, but not as tamper-y as some of the other scenarios you hear about.

I wish there were more reports of LSU tampering to be honest.

It’s survival of the fittest right now. Pay more or lose players.

It's a logical (and likely good) strategy for programs with money to go out and try to pillage the best freshmen in the country, because you obviously get at least 2 years of production and they are college tested unlike high schoolers.

So I would not be surprised at all if Lanning is doing this with Phil Knight's money. He took Dante Moore last year to be ready to take over from Dillon Gabriel for 2 years.

I also don't like that Durham retweeted a quote that says the report is "untrue and not accurate". If it's untrue then why the need to also say it's not accurate lol. Makes you wonder if the offer was made but the amount was wrongly reported

There's no cap for whatever a university is willing to spend. If Oregon wants a player bad enough 1.5 million is absolutely nothing to them.

I think most people see "tampering" as the HC calling up a player on another team and offering a big NIL deal. That's RARELY, if ever, how that happens.

What is often the case is a player on one team reaches out to a player on another whom he is friends with and tries to get him to transfer to their school. Often with promises of a big NIL deal.

This is a real world example of how that goes down form a business partner who has a close relative that is a major college athlete. He personally witnessed all of this go down while with the athlete on a family vacation.

Season ends. Player A just had a good season at a school where he is happy even though the team didn't have a great year. Some of player A's close friends on the team enter the portal and choose to transfer to different schools. Player A is not in the portal and has no intention of entering. However, one of player A's friends who has chosen to transfer text Player A and says: "(New school's) coach said he would take you if you were interesting in transferring here. They are giving me a $100k NIL deal. Would give you the same thing if you came here". Are you interested?

The deadline to enter the portal is in a few days. Player A is not in it, but goes to the coach for his current team and says another school is offering me $100k to transfer. It's something I have to think about. Can you match or get close? Player A's current coach is old school. He gets pissed at Player A. He dresses down Player A for trying to leverage him and says they aren't giving him any more money. Two days prior Player A wasn't going anywhere. Now, he's pissed at the HC for disparaging his character and has a increased NIL offer on the table. So he leaves for another school.

I love Durham but he doesn't have the value that Judkins had last year

The NCAA needs to crack down on this kind of shite. Once a player has signed with a team no other team should be allowed to persuade a kid with money to leave there team. There should be some sort of sanctions against the school.

Durham is an elite RB. He played hurt most of the season with half his toes and still put up those numbers. Wait until he's 100% and blowing by defenders once he gets to the second level. You'll think he's elite then. The run the other night was a prime example he almost torched that S who had a huge angle on him and had to shoestring tackle him. If he was at 100% he would've blew past that S. He's easily a sub 4.5 RB.

He did it as a freshman, in the SEC, hurt, and on a very poor interior OL. He's a stud. I absolutely believe a university like Oregon would be willing to dump 1.5 million on him per year whether this claim is true or not.
