I don't get it. The people in the football offices know what they're doing. If we had nothing, they would be willing to make more lucrative offers. People need to take anxiety meds or something.

It's not like Glenn Dorsey is in the transfer portal.

Our d line recruiting is awful. 25 class sucks for that position

Not sure what happened here.

The January portal was a head scratcher too.

You're right on the 25 class so far, but if you look at the visit list so far since the hiring of Bo we're in the mix for a bunch of guys. our current situation isn't great but we should be in great shape in 2 years

I mean you really can’t scheme for a weak interior with our boundary corners.

He's not superhuman. You have to give him help to work with. LSU is also contending with one of the hardest schedules this year alongside an offense that will absolutely go backwards from last year without JD/Nabers/BTJ. This season is honestly not looking good because you're going to be handicapped by defense again. They looked bad in spring and you still have Burns/Ryan as your last line of defense. That's kinda scary to think about.

They don't need to be great the defense just need to be average enough showing significant improvement from last year. I'm not sure how that will happen with the same players with less depth and potentially even more inexperience. I think Baker was a good hire but can he work with what he has? Guess we'll find out. They're pretty thin at DT right now.

We do still have people on the roster, including incoming freshmen. We'll all survive.

The thing is... if we don't add some pieces, we actually WONT be okay.

Right now, our DT depth resembles that of a bad G5 team. We currently have zero guys who project as average SEC starting IDL. Guillory is an adequate rotational piece, but other than him, we have exactly ONE guy (Paez) who would even be a rotational piece for an average SEC DL. Zero other DTs on roster would get a single meaningful snap for a team with an average SEC DL rotation.

Even with perfect health, our current rotation of IDL is comfortably below average for the SEC. And we have the worst depth in the entire SEC outside of *maybe* vandy.

And it's a lower-level starter, too. And we only have 2 guys who are even SEC-caliber rotational players.

I think this defense might be worse than last year when you consider it's -1 All-American DL and has less depth than last year. Teams will shred this defense with whatever they want to do because they'll be able to run it all day. That opens the pass up and allows them to do whatever they want. Davis/Baker are not miracle workers.

Remember when the 24 class OL sucked at this time last year?

I’ll never understand bitching in spring about a class that’s a year away from being finished

They’re not miracle workers, but even if we’re really bad, we’ll still be better than last year.

That’s not true at all. Just because we don’t have the commits doesn’t mean our recruiting is awful. It’s April

Yes, with a worse offense even if it's good and a harder schedule. You see the problems here? They're playing an offense early under Riley who will test the defense. They hired a good DC too so no telling how much he shores that defense up.

You can't apply last year's team to this one. Bad is still bad combined with a tougher schedule and an offense that has nowhere to go but backwards after 3 1st rounders leave.

JFC there is no need for the amount of bitching about this topic as their has been on this board.

1. There is still a week left for guys to enter the portal. We could still see a fair amount of movement.

2. LSU will add 1 - 2 more DTs and they will be coached by some of the best coaches in the country. Will they be great? Probably not, but they will be serviceable, and that will go a long way.

Is it a bad sign if the coaching staff was inquiring whether Travonte Valentine still has eligibility?
