He’s draft eligible. He might still be forever a bulldog

There’s your first baseman as he should have been all along

Jared Jones and Ethan Frey worked pretty well for me as the 1B/DH combo last year.

Honestly, I think we are good at 1B next year, and bringing in a transfer at the position makes little to no sense. Braun looked good there and the bat plays. Serna/Bide getting some reps there can makes sense too. You then have two highly rated recruits who are a toss up to make campus that can play there.

SS, 2B, 3B AND the entire OF all have significantly less options, and the resources should be going to any and all of those spots.

Braun can move to the outfield. Bide serna can rotate C/dh.

It's smart to use Braun strategically and place him where he's needed most in the lineup, whether it's 1B or corner OF. I'd view it as a Trey Morgan situation, who was insane at 1B but played some OF to let guys like Beloso and Bear in the lineup.

I'm not saying this is the guy... his profile is very similar to Yorke's at GCU other than him being a LA guy and being 60 less lbs.

Tre played OF because he had an injury that could have been exacerbated if he got run into at first. It had the ancillary benefit of giving Jones a lot of run at first base, which paid dividends the next couple years.

Been selfishly wanting him at LSU since he was at West Monroe. His grandfather, from Winnfield, was one of my late grandfather’s fishing buddies.

Interesting. Would certainly cause a log jam at 1B/DH but you hate not kicking the tires here

Trey’s maternal grandfather was an all-stater in baseball as a sophomore then the school cut out baseball as it “interfered” with spring football practice. Go figure.

Kid comes from an outstanding family. Would love to see him at LSU.

This was my assessment when this news dropped in another thread, before this one was started:

He’s draft eligible, you would know better than me if that’s a risk for him.

I liked him out of high school. I liked that whole WM class of prospects that year though.

I feel like last year he would have been a 100% take. Because of Braun and the incoming freshmen, combined with the absolute bed shitting of Yorke, I’m less sure we will pursue.

Which sucks because that would mean he will end up at Arkansas or Ole Miss if he doesn’t go pro.

You’d really have to work Braun into the OF and Arrambide as well, probably at least part time.

You know Jay would love another middle of the order LH bat

That was the plan before Yorke pissed down his leg wasn't it?

Yes, and probably won't ever really be off the table while he's here.

He didn’t look bad out there. Not quite Jake brown athletically, but looked at least as comfortable as Brown was tracking balls.
