Sept. 5, 1992

2:30 kickoff on ABC. LSU coming off 3 consecutive losing seasons. Didn’t matter. Tiger Stadium was rocking.

Different era. Different fans.

I was there and it was hot as a MF. People were dropping everywhere.

No HD TVs
No social media
Prices were cheaper

LSU games were not on every ESPN network channel like today

I was at that game, bad comparison, bc those same people — swapped into 2024 —- would’ve done exactly what people today do —- especially with yesterday’s weather condition. That game was hot….but not yesterday hot!

Actually played pretty well in that game against #5 Texas A&M. Made a few mistakes that cost them. Ultimately lost 31-22, but whipped #24 Mississippi State the following week 24-3. Optimism was high...until Auburn in week 3. Trailed 27-7, then stormed back to take a 28-27 lead. Only to lose on a last second FG 30-28. NEVER recovered and went 2-9.

I was in that student section with a fifth of Jim beam in my pants. After the game, chances are I was at sports drinking $1 Busch.

A&M had a run of RBs back then that was crazy.

I was there, too, with my 10 yo and 7yo, row 10, 30 yd line, east side and I believe I spent more money on bottled water for my kids than I actually paid for the tickets. I couldn’t pry them out of their seats with dynamite.

I sort of agree. You can reminisce on the cool experience of that game without bitching out fans because granny had a heat stroke and the fam had to leave. The at-home viewing experience is better than ever before, so you won’t have as many fans. Look what’s happening to movie theaters. As much as people on here want to make this seem like an LSU thing, it’s happening across the sport.

Is this when Billy Cannon's son was playing for the Aggies?

I was there, it was hot as frick, the stadium ran out of ice and after halftime the concession areas looked like a refugee camp with everyone watching the game on the old TigerVision.

This. 5 games were on TV that year. That means 6 were on radio only (unless you had Tigervision). That's how you did it back then. I went to alot of the games that weren't on tv. Now, every game is on tv.

I was there. One of my earliest memories, I had just turned 4. My dad went to A&M and had me in A&M gear and lsu fans gave me lots of shite

Turned out alright in the end graduated from LSU and have a bona fide hatred for the Aggies.

Tiger Stadium held 22,000 fewer fans (80,150) in 1992, the east uppers were not even added yet. The high temperature that day was 92 and partly cloudy so probably a little less uncomfortable.

It was also the first game of a new season under Hallman, whom people hoped would turn the [program around and work magic like we thought he did at Southern Miss (turned out that was Favre all along).

But you are correct that the fans may have been a little hardier then. They also would have been aghast at things like STTDB. TImes change, it is how it is.

I was there in the north end watch a buddy from HS that was a starter on the OL. It was brutally hot.
