HBD Mr. Pettit..... spent lots of time in my youth with his children since his son was a classmate of mine and his 2 daughters also attended St Martins. Great down to earth people. For his son's birthdays, we often went to LSU BB games and had a blast. As a teenager, I was always in awe of his basketball awards, trophies, plaques, and jerseys. I wasn't able to appreciate his numbers until I got older. First NBA player to score 20,000 pts, 4x NBA all star game MVP, 2x NBA MVP, and a world championship over his 11 year career.

I didn't know he's still alive! This is awesome!

rare uniform that actually punctuates the L.S.U. Abbreviation.

Why don’t we wear those jerseys anymore?

Definitely one of the players I wish I was alive to have seen play. He’s also not really talked about that much. I know it was the 50s/60s but his numbers were absolutely insane.

I didn’t know him but used to see him pretty frequently on Poydras Street. He looked great despite his age. And at his height, you couldn’t miss him!

Because they would look like something from an intramural game at the REC

Bill Russell and the Celtics were 11-1 during his career in the NBA finals
Only loss - 1958 to Bob Pettit and St. Louis Hawks

I used to guide at the Coastal Club and he would sit on his shell box on the bench. Bad knees!. Kinda hard to hide him in the blind. Watched his kids and grandkids grow up. Good people.
