Heisman acceptance speeches: would be nice if the winners “gushed” about the program

Re watched Burrow’s speech the other day and I noticed that he really didn’t say something along the Iines of “for future players deciding where to play, LSU is the place to be.”
I then went back and watched a few others to see if they all don’t say something similar, and I found that they too did not heap praise on their programs in such a way.
Is sending out direct messages to recruits during the speech a recurring violation?
Or do they just not give a shite ?

Burrow just got 260 million dollars, and a large part of that is because of LSU. I promise you these players know the program helped get them there.

I think winning the heisman trophy is more of a recruiting pitch than any words would be.

They are 20ish year olds standing on a podium in front of hundreds of people live, and millions on TV, making a speech during, possibly, the biggest moment of their lives. I'm sure they are probably trying to not sound dumb and thank everyone who has been a part of their success...all while probably being overcome with emotion. Hell, even the stoic, seemingly unflappable Burrow broke down in tears.
I'm willing to give them a pass for not making a "recruiting pitch" in that moment. Plus, they don't need to say anything. The trophy speaks for itself.

Or maybe, instead of pitching receuiting, they just simply were relishing and enjoying what might be the best achievement/moment of their sports life?

Burrow thanks LSU, his teammates and coaches for giving him a chance in our great program and praised Louisiana for embracing him. Those are recruiting boosts along with having 2 Heisman finalists and winners in a short time.

yep that’s what I recall from Burrow. Incredibly kind and emotional about the opportunity Coach O and LSU gave him, etc. Literally all that I remember in that speech. It was a speech that made me cry and I’ve only cried 4 times in my life. Katrina, 1st kids birth, Burrow Heisman, Saints Super bowl.

he pretty much broke down speaking about O and said give him a lifetime contract. He thanked him for giving him the keys to the program...it was a pretty good look for LSU IMO

I seem to remember Burrow heaping praise on Coach O.
