It makes no sense to me how we can be only 6th in our own league in walks, when it feels like we walk 10 times a game. How bad is control across college baseball right now?

At any rate, as more permanent roles are starting to settle on the mound and in the lineup, I think our team is performing even better than what the overall numbers say. Kling has clearly found it, White knocked off the rust and is now who we thought he was, Hurd clearly seems to have found his previous form after a rough first start, and other guys are stepping up in the bullpen after Bryce Collins inflated the bullpen ERA.

And there's still more potential waiting to be unlocked. Pearson is a huge talent who's eventually going to break out, and Jared Jones is still lurking with that huge power, if he can start making contact again.

Good stuff, thanks for posting. These boys are excelling at all aspects on the field right now. The pitching is what’s most impressive, imo, and most needed for a deep run.

Well I feel like I can confidently say that velocity is way, way up across the board in college baseball right now, so I’m guessing something’s gotta give there

Yeah it's up, but it's been up. That alone doesn't explain to me how high the walk totals are. Besides, you shouldn't be trying to throw hard if you can't control it. Our guys seem to be able to control it. So, it's not like it's impossible. There's just an epidemic of walks and hit batters across college baseball.

Yeah, this is the fun time of the year when every team thinks they have a national player of the year candidate. When the dust settles, I bet they'll all be looking up at Crews and White, and possibly a couple of others in our lineup.

I know there's a minimum number of at bats for these things but early in the season between some teams playing scrubs and just not that many games/ABs, you can have people luck into absurdly high BAs early on. I'll be interested to see the changes just one week makes. Obviously when conference play starts you'll find out who's for real
