MLB.com blurb about Skenes

I wish I knew the names of those scouts who were saying they had doubts as to whether his stuff would translate to the next level. Not merely questions, as such exists with anyone until they've done anything at the next level, but actual doubts. Like he was somehow too good to be true, so he must be a fluke.

This is why I take what scouts say with a grain of salt. People exalt them as all-knowing geniuses, but they don't have any film that the rest of us can't see, and yet some of them make comments that make me question if they really study players, or just look for things to nitpick to try to sound smarter than everyone else. Only to be exposed.

The thing that impresses me the most about Paul Skenes is not that he can throw 100mph+. Its that he cant throw 100mph+, 60, 70 pitches into the game and hes still pumping out heat.

They were going to put Paul Skenes' face on Mount Rushmore but the granite wasn't hard enough to form his mustache.

I didn't say there were many. But there were some, and those guys had no idea what they were talking about. Injury was the only real concern anyone should have had, with how hard he throws, but that's the case with all of these top pitching prospects. Stuff-wise, it's incredible to me that any scout would have reservations.
