He’s done better at Tennessee than Johnson’s done at LSU. He’s a douche for sure, but he’s an elite coach.

They'd also be calling for his head for losing back to back home series.

Dude wins, so I'd take him over almost anybody else, but I'd rather have Jay.

I also wanted LSU to hire Nick Saban and John Calipari (at one point).

It doesn’t mean I don’t want LSU to embarrass them every single time they play them.

The 3 full seasons that Johnson has been at LSU, Vitello has won a NC, been to another CWS, and never missed a Super Regional.

Johnson has only made one Super Regional. Obviously he won the NC that year and he too is an elite coach, but Vitello has done better.

Vitello has been at Tennessee longer, so the comparison is not 1 to 1, but that is a traditionally average program that he built into a powerhouse. His output thus far has been superior. I think Johnson can have similar if not more success long term, but it’s objectively true that Vitello has done more at Tennessee than Johnson has at LSU since the 2022 season.

Probably the 2 best active HCs in NCAA baseball at the moment. Not sure that it's really even up for debate unless Schloss wins it all this year, but he will frick it up. Especially if they just lost Spencer.

I’m glad you witnessed the flaw in your logic on your own lol. I don’t think anyone is questioning if Vitello is a good coach. So you’re kind of arguing against yourself as well. Jay is also a good coach. Happy to have him.

Yes, but JJ has been at LSU 1/2 as long as TV has been at Tennessee.

There is no flaw in the logic. Vitello has accomplished more than Johnson since Johnson started coaching LSU.

Johnson won a NC in year 2, so it takes no time to build a program these days. Vitello has done it better since Johnson has been in Baton Rouge using the same NIL/no sit transfer options that LSU has. Options that were not available to him in his first 4 years after taking over a moribund program.

He’s done more.

You said it yourself it is not one versus one. Vitello didn’t win shite until the portal/NIL came anyway. Once again both great coaches and trying to reason which is better is a moot point. They both are accomplished with programs in similar directions.

Jay also inherited a much better program with one of the best players to ever play college baseball on the team in Dylan crews.

He’s done well at lsu, but vitello has taken a dumpster fire baseball program to a national championship winner and yearly race horse, they hadn’t been in the postseason in 14 years when vitello took over.
