What kind of role do you think Jelani Watkins will have next year.

Dude is an absolute burner. I know we have a ton of speed guys, but I’d like to see him on the field and what he has to offer. Not sure how far down he’d be buried on the depth chart

This is a good question about a player I’d really like to see develop and stick it out here. I can see 2026 being big for Watkins

Put him in the slot and be creative with how you use him.

Kinda chuckled while saying that because the thought of Sloan knowing what to do with him seems like a fantasy.

Really good in the 4X100 and 4X200.

He's never going to completely devote himself to football, so he isn't going to put on the weight or develop the skills to be a real force on the gridiron. Football is no longer a part-time sport unless you're just a gadget player.

He’s one of the 5 freshmen Kelly mentioned just before the season as kids he expected to contribute. He was hurt in a practice shortly after that.

He’s the fastest kid on the team and was turning heads right away. I was hoping to see him by the end of the year or bowl game, but not sure that makes since at this point unless he can be a good contributor at wr in the bowl game.

It's hard to see a path to the field for him next year. In front of him you have Hilton, Anderson, z Thomas, and I'm assuming both transfers. Not to mention trey'dez green and he'd be competing when billiot. Could easily see him contributing the next year oif he stuck around though

I kind of hope we start incorporating more jet sweeps next year with our speed players like Jelani Watkins, Zavion Thomas, Chris Hilton, Caden Durham, Harlem Berry, etc.

Depends how good he is at football

We will need a slot behind Anderson

But is he just a track guy?

He'll definitely get a couple plays in this Baylor game.

For next year i expect a gadget guy and short quick passes. He'll play some even though we have at least 4 guys just like him (not as fast though).

He was with the ones in practice.

It'll primarily be Anderson, Hilton, Thomas, and Watkins. Green has to be at TE so I guess we'll see some of Billiot and Nicholas as well.

Jelani played in some games, just never got a touch.
