Will be interesting to see how that works. And who they choose for that role.

I assume it's going to be some sort of "general manager" type position like Arkansas added a few months back. I think they have a former player filling the role.

Probably Terry Rooney again just like it was before Paul went to Carolina and hired Rooney to go with him.

I think there is a less than zero chance Jay would hire him back.

Pretty sure the way that went down precludes that from happening again.

Guess I missed that part when it all went down. Wouldn’t think it was an issue since he was going back to an on field roll with Paul.

It's probably going to be someone in this mold. Or perhaps a current staffer gets elevated and someone like this slides into a lower level role.

Could it be Paul M himself.

Ronnie Rantz has a better chance at the gig.

Honestly I wouldn’t hate Ronnie in that spot. Maybe he can get them to play summer ball for the roug before fall ball starts.

I’ll go ahead and get this out of the way: Andy Cannizzaro

I kid.

I wonder if Nippolt get offered a job in the program, or if he was just completing grad school and planning to move on.

I guess that plan is for when the Tigers are in Omaha in the FUTURE chasing a title...because we are a long way from having been there this season.

Will Hellmers seems to be doing well in the social media world. He's pretty entertaining to follow.

If the role is some combination of scouting, roster management, and hosting recruits, I wouldn't think a recent player (Hellmers, Milazzo, Nippolt) would fit this role. It would seem better suited for someone with GM type experience

It's all of those things for a possible 2 weeks out of the year. It's just an extra staffer that won't have game day responsibilities for that time period.

Right now, everyone on staff does something on game days. Even Champ Artigues is down in the bullpen when guys are warming.

This is a support role that will be aided by other support roles. They won't ever be the primary scout or evaluator. As far as executing visits, that's where a recent former player like Hellmers would actually have relevant experience.
