I have two dime-size Bermuda $10 gold coins that my wife wants to convert to jewelry. They are in mint condition and cased. Am I right in thinking these are just chunks of metal and don't have any value higher than gold content? I don't think there is a market for Bermuda currency.

why don't you look up the coins on ebay or something. Gold coins can sometimes be worth much more than you'd think. Or you could sell the coins for the gold content and buy your wife nice jewelry.

If you're talking about having a jeweler make a pendant and necklace for it, sure. But if you're talking about melting the gold for a ring or something, I think you would lose your arse in that deal with the labor and markup. Some jewelers might give you spot value for the two and then pick out a piece of jewelry in the store for the same price.
