LSU online MBA, thoughts?

I am looking at different online MBA programs. I need an online MBA program as where I currently live there is not too many universities and I am going to continue to work while obtaining my MBA.
I noticed LSU moved up 20 spots this past US News Reports MBA ranking, which is quite impressive for a one year jump.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the quality of LSUs MBA program or their business program? Is LSU known for having a quality business school and/or MBA program (I know it is not a top 10 or 20 MBA program)?
Does the LSU name, academically speaking, travel well or not? I currently live in Western North Carolina, and could be moving to Cleveland Ohio soon, to be closer to family.
Any opinions or further information would be very helpful.

LSU's Business school is very well-known nationally, especially its MBA program. I saw somewhere a while back that its MBA program is ranked 13th nationally.

The sad part is the Chancellor will be run out of town the day LSU's MBA program is ranked higher than its football program.

I say try to find one where you don't have to take it online. Online degrees,at least in my field, are not looked at very kindly.

University of Phoenix, if you go the online route. Very well respected.

Phoenix? Really? I almost laugh at any degree from Phoenix let alone an MBA

This is grossly inaccurate. LSU is very much a regional MBA program. It's ranked 61 nationally. From experience I can tell you the vast majority of businesses recruiting LSU MBAs are regional companies (albeit some very large oil and gas). There are no investment banks recruiting there or other consulting firms).
All that said most companies are there to hire people from the full time program. I'd only take the online program if you're trying to advance with your current company or are willing to do a job search independently.
ETA: not bashing LSU MBA, it has a great value, however you just have to decide what your end goal is. There are many successful LSU MBAs and once in the workforce where you received your degree doesn't count for much.

University of Phoenix? You got to be kidding, well I at least hope you are.
The person stating you would suggest to not do an online MBA and do a degree from a school close to me. The online degree would be from a real university (all my choices are) and not the university of phoenix of the world.
The universities close to me are Western Carolina and East Carolina. I do not want to make that same mistake that I did with my undergraduate. I went to Florida International, LOVE FIU, had a great experience and education. The problem is, FIU only goes as far as the next county. I would like a quality degree from a university that name actually travels.
Does LSU name as a whole and their MBA specifically only travels well in Louisiana like HurricaneDunc mentioned?

UNC has a solid online program. They market the hell out of it too
LSU is pretty average. It checks the box for the degree from an accredited institution.

Unless you go to the Harvard's of the world, a degree is a check box.

So University of Phoenix should get it done.

Getting an MBA online defeats the purpose of an MBA, networking. It's nice, though, if you are looking to get a promotion at work and they require an MBA to get that position.

UNC has by far the BEST online MBA program, by far. The problem is the UNC program is more than double the cost of LSU for example

I'll weigh in as a graduate of the full time LSU MBA program.
1) don't do an online MBA. When someone applies with an online MBA, they don't immediately go into the trash, they get emailed around for everyone in the office to laugh at. One applicant had an otherwise very strong resume, but got laughed at because of his online MBA. I emailed him and advised him to just take that off of his resume when applying for finance jobs. He got a solid offer about a month later.
2) you are correct in wanting to get a big brand name for your MBA. Unless you need to just check a box (government employee), a crappy MBA won't bring you anything. My MBA from LSU hardly carries any weight and I work in Louisiana. Either make the investment in yourself to go to a top 25 program in person or use your time, money, and energy pursuing a highly regarded professional certification (CPA, CFA, CFP, etc.)
3) I may have missed it, but why do you want to get an MBA? It is not a golden ticket like it used to be. You need to go in with a purpose and a goal day 1 and start pursuin it immediately. In a 2 year program, you'll be interviewing for internships writhin the first 6 months of starting. In a 1 year, you will be applying for full time jobs within 9 months. Those interviewers are going to want to see a desire, passion, and focused pursuit of their industry.

An online MBA allows you to get a full degree while at work, which is a nice boost to your resume when you try to advance in management at your current location.

I honestly don't see the point if you aren't in class every week giving a presentation or won't be taking advantage of networking opportunities.
LSU is a name brand school with regional appeal and I can understand choosing that (or online programs from Miss State, Maryland, Alabama, etc.) over some joke of a degree mill like Phoenix. Having an MBA doesn't open too many doors anymore by itself. The basis of their appeal these days are as much about soft skill development and networking as it is about curriculum.

"TheHiddenFlask" No, your lame lol. Sorry, just been busy with work.
Thank you for the response.
1) I do not understand number one. Yes, I am doing the MBA online, but, it is not an onlline university. All the universities I am looking at are brick and mortar schools that happen to offer online programs. I can not do a full time in class program as I will not give up work for two years. An online MBA allows me to continue to produce in the office while continuing my education while at home.
2) Thats a shame that LSU name does not even carry weight within Louisiana. I am currently living in Western North Carolina and eventually will like to move to Cleveland Ohio to live closer to family.
I know you hate to hear this, but, doesn't the success of your athletic program at least makes LSU known compared to a university that has similar academics but not an athletic university?
Unless You go to a top 5-10 school. I do not believe the ROI even in a top 25 MBA program will be great. Harvard, Yale sure. Outside of the elite universities, an MBA is not a sure thing any longer. It is nice to have on the resume and can help in your current position to move up or transition to another position but you are not going to be rich with JUST an MBA unless you go to those very high schools.
3)The reason why I want to get an MBA. Part of it is for self satisfaction, part of it is to make up for the stupid decision I made for my undergraduate degree (Sport Management, yes it is actually the sutdy of managing the business of athletics but the stigma of the name just never felt rightwith me and I believe sooner or later it will bite me in the behind as I work up the corporate ladder). Bachelors degree is the new high school degree and I believe to really compete in todays market you have to have an advance degree. Lastly, I just enjoy business and I having the additional knowledge of business and to have that piece of paper certainly does not hurt. The only thing I think it could do is help.
Dewster:
Oh, I certainly know that an MBA no longer is something that will open the door, give you the office by the window making 150k. What separates you from others is what you do as a professional, however, an MBA does at least give you a slight edge over someone with a bachelors degree ( as I mentioend, I believe the bachelors degree is the same as a high school degree years ago).
Thank you for the response.
