Need a lawn mower… finance, cash, etc??

Just moved to a house with a pretty big lot. Definitely too big to push mow.
I’m paying a guy to cut it right now for $60/biweekly and it’s eating me up to see that money go to that. I pay him an additional $80 to cut 2 rent houses we have. So $140/biweekly is driving me crazy.
After we bought the house we dropped our savings a lot. I can afford to go buy a used one cash but have never had this little in my savings in my adult life so it makes me a bit nervous.
I’ve also never financed anything in my entire life except homes. I have a good credit score and have heard that financing something like this can drop it pretty bad.
Or should I continue paying him out of my business account and use it as a business expense. Thanks!!

Go get a Hustler at 0%. Get a hustler raptor xl with a 42" deck. Will cost you around 100/month. It won't hurt your credit.

Save up and pay cash when you’ve replenished your savings.
Edited to explain…. Debt can and will become a habit if you aren’t careful. Sure you COULD finance it, but then it’ll be easier to finance furniture, an unnecessary car/vehicle, credit card debt for random expenses. Do yourself a favor and don’t get in the habit of borrowing. Beef up savings, buy what you need.

Do you have the equipment necessary to sharpen/change the blades and the oil for the lawnmower ?

How big is your lot? I have half an acre and push mow. Weekly exercise.

Or get on FB Marketplace and buy a cheaper used one

Uhhh. That is stupid easy. That is not a concern

I pay $30/week to cut it through the summer and never give it a second thought. It’s a chore that is an easy decision to outsource.
$140 every two weeks for someone to cut three lawns sounds very reasonable.

Kubota has 0% financing and FULL insurance coverage while it's financed. My dad and I have used it on both a tractor and zero turn. Both needed something fixed (our fault) and was fully covered.

I financed a riding mower years ago because it was 0%. Best I can remember, it was for 18 months, then I paid it off. I already had an account at the shop, so they didn’t pull my credit. But in your case, the only credit score drop would be if/when they do a hard pull. That would be a small temporary drop. The only real drop or damage would be if you don’t make a payment on time.

You run your business out of this location? If so, then yes, I’d do that. I enjoy mowing my yard only because I use it as downtime, listening to music, so that I’m not sitting in front of my monitors looking for options trades that may not be there. But if my yard maintenance was deductible, then I’d find some other way to stay away from the monitors.

If you open any account, your score drops.
So are you never going to use credit?
As you build a good payment history on new debt, the score increases (most often higher than it was before you opened the new credit).
If you are buying a new house or investment property in the next 6 months, I advise against opening anything new. Outside of that, I don't recommend being paralyzed because of where a credit score sits.

Where abouts? I just bought 3 acres that will need cutting and a full 3 acres until we build 24-36 months.
Probably looking for 54 inch or bigger zero turn

Kubota's insurance coverage isn't free. It will be about double what you can buy on your own, but on a small purchase like this it probably won't add up to a lot of $.

Who cares if your credit score drops. Unless you're moving buying another house soon why would it matter. Finance and pay it off early once your savings is replenished.

Parish Tractor in Poplarville, MS.
It was FREE for us while it was financed. We are now paying for it for the tractor. I can't remember how much it is, but not much.

This. Plus time value of money. There's a laundry list of other things I can be doing other than cutting grass twice a month.
