Just had our 3rd child and needing to buy the wife (no pics) a full size SUV. Looking specifically at the ford expeditions. Wondering what’s the best rates being offered right now

Curious as well. How much of difference is it between a new vs. used?

We talked about a full sized SUV, but it’s hard to beat a minivan for what we want/need. Thinks that’s the route we’re going.

Everyone knows it’s true. Only a few of us will say it out loud. After a trip or two to the grocery store in your full size SUV with all 3 in tow, you’ll (OP) realize it too.

Yeah we test drove an Odyssey and were sold. Exactly what we need and my wife doesn’t care about the “stigma” of driving a minivan. Definitely prefers the practicality of it.

With great credit, new vehicles it can vary from 0 to 7.

Used it’s around 5-7.

That's a huge variance. No way I'd ever pay 7% interest on a vehicle with great credit.

If you're in a position to pay cash I'd say that's good logic to live by, but some people aren't fortunate enough to have that luxury. It's difficult to see some of these new interest rates if you entered the financing market when I did when it was common to have 3% mortgages and they were giving away 1 to 3% notes on vehicles.

At least with a range of interest rates given the OP can determine if he's getting ripped or if he needs to shop rates.

Ford is offering 1.9% for 60mo on 2024 Expeditions

Paying a big premium for something like that over a mid-size 3 row or a minivan. If you dont need to tow, it's a lot of money wasting.

Looking at truecar if you pay cash you should be able to get a Limited model for $60k ($5k of bonus cash from Ford, $5k average dealer discount). If you finance then probably closer to $65k for that model.

on our 3rd odyssey. can't frickin beat it. i proudly drive a minivan. 3 kids piling in and out of it, never having to worry about them kicking open a door into another vehicle. The practicality of a minivan is off the charts

ETA: i mean proudly when we go out as a family. I still have my F150 for me.

I was in exact same boat as you. Wife flat out refused to drive a minivan. Got this interest rate on an expedition and very pleased so far. Hard to beat a large suv for highway driving. I bought a new demo xlt because there were features on the newer model that I wanted compared to previous model year. For what you get, it's the best value in large suv space imo. I just have to ignore all the people on here talking about how bad of a decision it is financially

There is a massive difference between want and need. You don't NEED a full size SUV for 3 kids

Agreed. Look at an explorer with captains chairs, not the bench seat. It makes it easier to get to the third row. You can still have a couple of carryons or groceries in it with all six seats filled.

My CU is offering 5.25% for up to 84 months on 2016 - newer. Very fair. I’m in the market myself.

I had 2 other siblings and the largest vehicle my parents ever owned was a Buick LeSabre. We'd take road trips from BR to Denver in that thing.

Do what I did. I lifted it 2” and went up a size on SUV AT tires. It now has Subaru clearance and looks more SUV-like. Actually seems to drive better as well.
