RALEIGH, N.C. -- Olympic 1,500-meter bronze medalist and world champion Jenny Simpson remains under medical care Thursday but shows "encouraging improvement" after collapsing while pacing a mile group at an event in Raleigh earlier this week.

In a post on Instagram, Fleet Feet, the company where Simpson serves as its chief running officer, wrote she "continues to exhibit the strength and resilience that have long defined her. True to form, she has already asked about her mile time and whether she won."

The 39-year-old Simpson underwent CPR at the track Tuesday night and an automated external defibrillator was also used before being transported to the hospital. She was taking part in a community track event hosted by Sir Walter Running, with runners of all levels in attendance.

Fleet Feet CEO Joey Pointer also happened to be attending the event and stayed with Simpson at the hospital while her family arrived.

"The outpouring of support from across the running community has been extraordinary," the Instagram post from Fleet Feet said. "We appreciate the compassion, encouragement and concern shown for Jenny and her family, and we are grateful to be part of a community that continues to rally around them."

In February, Simpson was brought in by Fleet Feet as its chief running officer. Her role is to inspire runners. She wrote on social media: "I'll be leveraging a lifetime of experience and my deep belief in the transformational power of running to help Fleet Feet maximize its positive impact on health and wellness in communities across the country."

Simpson captured the bronze medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. In addition, she won the 1,500 at the 2011 world championships, along with silver medals in 2013 and 2017. She was a multi-time national champion while running for the University of Colorado.

I'd put money on this being caused by the COVID Vaccine.

Jim Fixx died of a heart attack in 1984 while running (he was 52).

It happens.

I've been following this on Letsrun. There are some posters over there who were at the event and saw it happen.

Jenny also collapsed during the 2009 NCAA championship, but she said it was a panic attack at the time. I bet she has some undiagnosed arrhythmia that actually caused the 2009 incident and this one. Being at a race rather than on a training run probably saved her life. Having tons of people around to start CPR and call an ambulance made the difference

Yeah, let's mock this scenario, for sure.

I have two friends that wanted to get the vaccine, and both have developed serious issues with their immune systems. Both cases, it has been determined it was due to the shot. Auto immune issues are not fun, especially if you were very healthy your entire life. Both of these people do not fit the profile of who Covid most affected.

Not saying this is what happened to Simpson, but I would not mock anyone for saying this is a possibility at this point. I have another three friends that developed cancer within months after getting the shot as well. Two of them are convinced it was from the shot and again, all of them wanted it. Two are still around fighting with chemo, the third passed within a month of diagnosis bc the cancer spread so fast.

Prior to 2021, what would you have contributed it to?

I don’t think a lot of people realize just how prone to arrhythmia a lot of exceedingly healthy people can become when doing elite levels of cardio. Especially as you start to push into your 40s.

Sounds like you have awful luck health-wise within your circle of friends. Where do you live? Is it possible there’s a cancer cluster in the area? Did they all get the same type of cancer?

I think it’s too easy to just blame the shot. I’m not a fan of it being pushed on folks, but again…seems like the easiest thing to blame.

I know nothing like this at all. So I am led to believe the common denominator could be your cologne that could have effected all those around you

This was true, especially for elite endurance athletes, prior to covid. I wonder if there has been an uptick due to the vaccine?

If only there was money to be made doing studies to figure this out.

I’m sorry for your loss and for your friends’ health, but the idea that all these issues came from the COVID vaccine is complete and utter nonsense.

How was this determined?
