Arizona media criticize Marvin Harrison Jr. for being a disappointment

It has become a weekly ritual around the Cardinals’ Tempe facility. Marvin Harrison Jr. delivers an underwhelming performance — at least statistically — and the team spends the following week defending him.
“He's affecting the game; he's a big part of our passing game,” offensive coordinator Drew Petzing said, offering the latest iteration, even after Harrison produced a two-catch, 32-yard outing against the Patriots.
The Cardinals didn’t draft Harrison fourth overall for his run-blocking capabilities or to almost make nice catches. They drafted him fourth overall to revolutionize their offense, giving Kyler Murray the game-changing playmaker that he has lacked since DeAndre Hopkins’ departure.
Harrison has seven touchdown catches, but his 687 receiving yards rank 38th, behind four other rookies. He’s hauled in just 47 of his 92 targets. By total receptions, he’s outside the league’s top 50.

Seems a bit of an overreaction. He’s not having a bad year statistically but was given ridiculous expectations

I'm shocked the most by this

Yeah he's not having a bad year and he's a rookie. Not a disappointment at all.

Honestly should’ve taken Brock Bowers. He is about to break the rookie tight end record.

They touted him as the best prospect in years. You could watch the guy play and know that was bullshite.
He’s a nice player, crisp routes, good hands, but he doesn’t have that break away playmaking ability that the absolute best in the league. I see him as a Larry Fitzgerald type. He’ll have a long career accumulate stats, but he’ll never be in the conversation for the best in the league

Malik Neighbors is outclassing him catching passes from Daniel Jones and Tommy Devito

This shouldn't be surprising to anyone that actually paid attention. MHj was a good player. He was just incredibly overrated and players like Nabers were better than him to anyone that was objective
This is actually good. Way less receptions and yards but more TDs than Nabers.
of course he has a much better QB, but still these are fine stats for a rookie WR.

That would have been dumb. They already have an excellent TE.

Well, if he ends up as a hall of famer, that is not so bad. I feel like you are overweighting blazing speed. Guys like Larry or Megatron are all-time greats, too.

This has a lot more to do with Kyler being a mediocre QB.

similar numbers to Jeudy back in his rookie year. i remember many were underwhelmed by him that year

Megatron and Larry are not in the same class of player at their best.
MHJ may very well accumulate a hall of fame career. My point is the media hyped this guy up to ridiculous levels, and I don’t think there’s a chance he’s ever the best, or even top 3 receiver, in the league. Fitzgerald feasted on running crisp short and intermediate routes, and did it for a decade and a half. But he was never the scariest guy in the league to go against.
It’s partly what you are looking for, do you want an absolute game changer for 5-8 years or do you want a guy like MHJ for a decade plus that is going to be very good? I can see the argument for both

Heisman finalist, top five pick, first WR taken, endless hype at OSU. I kinda think there would be expectations.

I need to remember to that people who say “member” instead are retards

Anyhoo Heisman consideration has absolutely zero to do with the NFL. They invite the top 4, he finished
