If I were running a sportsbook, I would say that for football and basketball, if any player plays in the first quarter of a game, then does not return later due to injury, then all bets (both overs and unders) are void. That way, I keep those who bet the over happy and I wouldn't have to pay "cheap wins" to those who bet the under. If that is my stated policy, then there shouldn't be any bitching after the fact.

But as the rule stands now, if a player gets hurt in the 1st quarter, then tough shite on your bet.

They’ve done it in the past so now the Twitter mob whines for it with every injury. Their own fault because the advertise the shite out of it when they do it

That's pretty stupid.

I mean FanDuel has been around for years now and you could play daily fantasy football on there.

I can't tell you how many times I would use a player and they'd get hurt in the first or second quarter it sucks and it ruins your lineup but it is what it is.

Lmao at these guys.

disagree, i think they should get a participation trophy.

in this case that participation trophy is their money back.

They’re mad Fanduel voided AD’s props when he got hurt but played 8 minutes, scored, and had 3 rebounds

They aren’t letting Luka folks off the hook even though he only played 3 minutes and didn’t score

It's one thing if it is a Bengals/Bills scenario, but I would think that injuries are just part of betting. Tough luck.

It's a joke. Both teams "quit" in the second half.

People in that Twitter thread suggesting it would be goodwill for FanDuel to give people their money back.

All I could think of was this scene from Lost in America.

Sucks, but the bet stands.

Yeah this is standard. If a guy plays, the bet counts, regardless of how long. That's the way it goes unless there's some outlandish reason the game ends due to something like the malice at the palace.

Is it though? A lot of those betters are claiming FD has voided bets in the past when AD and Booker both went down to injury 8 and 6 minutes into their games.

If that's true I don't see how this is any different.

They didn’t HAVE to do it. There was a case this year with AD and everybody actually did get refunded.

Honestly, I kind of think they need to in this case considering they've done it just this year.

If they don't it makes it look like somebody at FD is deciding these kinds of things based on their own bets.

Well it seems they voided the bet when Anthony Davis played 8 mins and scored but not luka after 5 mins.

Seems to me that they void when it will make them money and don’t when it will lose them money

If he plays and gets hurt, I’m okay at losing these bets. If he doesn’t play and they announce it 5 minutes before the game, I think a push is deserving.

It's only an issue because DraftKings decided to issue refunds (free bets) back first.

I'm surprised FanDuel didn't do it. Most people (self included) make dumb bets with free bets because you don't get the stake back.

eta: They've done bad beat refunds a few times recently. Always in the form of a free bet instead of voiding the bet.

FD, and other books, have actually done good by refunding tickets on some crazy circumstances, but a dude averaging 37 minutes/game and spraining his ankle, should not qualify. That's just shitty luck. Take your L and move on.

Yeah i feel like they've been fair on their voids/refunds on stuff like this

For example, when AD was on a tear a few weeks ago, one of the FD boosts involved him and someone else for like pts or boards or something.

He played like 5 minutes and left the game with an "illness". They got a well-deserved amount of backlash from that because the "illness" wasn't made known before the game but apparently he had been sick. So they refunded/voided bets with him involved.

Being transparent about things like that is a good reason to refund. Not a player getting hurt in a game. That's just part of it. Just gotta take the loss and get back at it lol

Didn't one of the sites try to frick betters out of an o/u with Draymond Green when he stepped on the court for 30 seconds and then came out?

They still had to pay all the bets that had under.
