Southern Conference football used to rock until Georgia Southern, App State, and Marshall moved to FBS. i have not followed FCS as closely since then.

McNeese is terrible again this year. That’s the only one I follow.

I keep up with it and always check Richmonds score. They're playing well now. Other than that I just know the Dakotas rule.

Well, Gary Goff deserves it for the way that he abandoned his alma mater. Once McNese moves on from him, I wish them much success.

Gary Goff is the highest paid football coach at McNeese. They’re more competitive this year than last year, but they still have a long ways to go. The fans don’t deserve this.
I’ve been working on their new 30+million dollar press box. It’s mind boggling that McNeese of all teams is getting something this nice while they continually underperform.

After touring the Montana State campus and facilities last Fall, I am now a fan of the Bobcats. Coach Vigen has them undefeated through 8 games and ranked #2 overall.

The Big Sky is a fun conference with schools in interesting locations.

I don't blame him for taking the job, but he could have handled his leaving "better".

South Dakota and South Dakota State played an epic OT game last night on ESPN U that SDSU pulled out. Being a South Dakota alumni and former player, it hurt bad. The game was great and the MSB would have loved it.
This coming off an epic game between North Dakota State and South Dakota State last week that NDSU won in Fargo in the final seconds.
USD gets NDSU at home final game of the season. I'll be there. Will be awesome.
The FCS is ruled by the Dakota schools. This season comes down to NDSU, SDSU, and USD.
Go Yotes!

Definitely enjoy MVFC and Big Sky games.

east coast schools are garbage
majority of their conference winners would finish 6th or worse in Missouri valley, year in, year out.

I always pull for the Southland Conference teams. When ULM was NLU, and they were good, that was their conference. I think current Southland teams Lamar, McNeese, Nichols and Northwestern LA were in it back then too. NLU, Arkansas State, North Texas, Texas Arlington & Louisiana Tech were in it in the early 80's too. It was a great little conference with some good teams and great rivalries.
Looks like Incarnate Word is the top team in the current standings. One kid from Many is on that team. Lindsey Scott, a QB who played at Zachary and at LSU ended up there and had a great year two or three years ago. I kept up with them then.
I knew Southeastern La's coach Frank Scelfo when he was playing Baseball at NLU. He was one of then baseball coach Lou St. Amant's South Louisiana kids. He brought lots of Cajun kids up to play ball. They were a fun buch to hang around with. I kept up with some of them through the 2006 when my dad and I gave up our LSU season tickets. I should be pulling for them.
Lake Charles College Prep RB Tre'Vonte Citizen is playing at McNeese. He signed with Miami out of high school. Right now, McNeese's roster is about half transfers from other colleges.
Norman Joseph is the OC at NorthwesternLA. He was the OC at NLU in 1993 when they hosted Idaho, and lost 31-34. That team had one of the best offenses in the country that year. They made three or four 1-AA playoffs during those years with Dave Roberts as the head coach.
I pull for Grambling and Southern too. I think they are FCS now, but I don't think they participate in the playoffs. They have the HBCU championship to play for. I know Grambling's safety coach Del Lee-Collins. This is his 2nd stint at Grambling. We became acquainted when he was there before. Former LSU WR Shyrone Carey is a WR coach there now too.
I wish I knew some of the current Southern coaches, and still made regular trips to Baton Rouge. Willie Totten, the Miss Valley State QB who threw to Jerry Rice, is Southern's QB coach. I'd love to tell him about following them from Dallas, TX and talking them up because I was born in Miss. I always looked for their box scores in the paper. They set all kinds of college football passing and receiving records in the 80's under "The Gunslinger", Coach Archie Cooley.
Coach Lee-Collins is one of the college coaches I send film of recruits. I try to help some coaches I know find high school freshmen and sophomores. The really good kids I send to LSU coaches 1st. If LSU doesn't offer them, I'll send their film to other D1 guys. The lower level coaches get sent the kids who don't have offers. Those coaches usually only want seniors.
I always pull for all of the Louisiana college teams during the regular season of every sport.

That’s because all of the good ones move up to FBS and all that’s left are the HBCUs

It is NOW, and good on them.
From 1985-1990, Georgia Southern won four titles. They added two more in 1999 and 2000. App State won it in 2005, 2006, and 2007. The Dakota schools didn't ascend until the SoCon powers went FBS.
There was a time when NDSU was the dominant team in D-II. When they moved to FCS, it cleared the way for a new crop of dominant teams.

I've got friends who retired in Billings, and they go over to Bozeman to see the Bobcats 2 or 3 times a year. The problem is that games later in the year are downright bone chilling cold and they can't seem to raise the money to dome the stadium.

Dakota schools run FCS. It's a great division.

That's because, just like the Aints, McNeese athletic administration made the asinine choice to retain their losing coach. A coach who also has no discipline control over his team.
