A lot of memories there.

The late 1960s-very early 1970s was the GOAT era for the film NFL photographers used.
Pretty sure that touchdown TD is scoring in the Pack-Broncos game was the one Holmgren let them score with under 2 minutes left to go up by a touchdown.

I completely forgot Malcolm Smith existed
I remembered every single one of these except for his.

Interesting statistic Chuck Howley is the only NFL player to win the Super Bowl MVP and be on the losing team. Jerry West is the only NBA player to win the NBA Finals MVP and be on the losing team.
They both are West Virginia natives and attended WVU.
They'll most likely never give the Finals/Super Bowl MVP to a player on the losing team ever again.

Still crazy to think Joe Flacco had one of the best postseasons for a QB ever in 2012. Flacco of all QBs

The Bucs 2002 super bowl MVP choice was a weird one.
Dexter Jackson won it...but both his interceptions were in the first quarter...and the score was a whopping 6-3 after the ensuing drives. He also had 1 tackle and didn't get deep enough on his drops on one of the Raiders 2 offensive TDs.
His interceptions definitely helped the Bucs, but they weren't the game breakers when you consider that the Bucs had 3 Pick 6s and and 5 sacks. Of which Jackson had none.
Simeon Rice was in the backfield almost every snap and while he only had 2 sacks, he was a terror who absolutely dominated the game. In fact, his pressure forced Gannon out of the pocket on Jackson's first pick and he was in Gannon's face on Brooks' pick 6.
Dwight Smith had 2 pick 6s (but both came when the game was pretty much over). He also had 4 tackles. But he also got burned for one of the Raiders 2 offensive TDs.
Derrick Brooks stifled the Raiders running game and also added a pick 6.
The Bucs scored 3 offensive TDs and 3 defensive TDs so it wasn't like they were totally carried by the D either.
The offensive TDs were not set up by the defense. The first TD drive they had a short field after a great punt return. The second TD drive was a 77 yard drive to take a 20-3 lead with just 30 seconds left in the first half. The third TD drive was an 89 yard drive to take a commanding 27-3 lead on the first possession of the 2nd half.
On the two long TD drives,
Brad Johnson was 4/5 for 43 yards and a TD on the drive before the half and
he was 5/6 for 73 yards and a TD and added another 10 yards on the ground on the drive
Those two long TD drives were the backbreaker stretching the game from 13-3 to 27-3 in just two drives and perfectly executed by Johnson.
Pittman also had a really solid day on the ground with 124 yards.
I would argue that Rice, Brooks, and Johnson were all more deserving than Jackson and you could make the case for Smith or Pittman.

I remember the Raiders massively overpaid him that off-season. Something like $10-12M for five years. That was an insane amount of money at the time.

That game featured the winning team winning despite having 7 turnovers.
Howley’s career is interesting. He’s a 6x All-Pro but didn’t make his first one until the age of 30. He also had another 2 turnovers accounted for (1 FR and 1 INT) in the following season in which the Cowboys won the SB. Yet he’s not in the HOF.
