2003 LSU beat Aubie 31-7 that year as well. Aubie was clearly not elite that season
Auburn said we were better.
The Southern Cal teams had a good record against the SEC, but they padded it by playing the mid-tier teams.
The better SEC teams owned the rest if the PAC-10. It was known as the PAC-1.

Pete Carroll was 4-0 against the SEC as the head coach of Southern Cal. He beat two good teams, one mediocre team, and one bad team.
2001 - no games against SEC opponents
2002 - 24-17 win over Auburn in Los Angeles (Auburn went on to finish 9-4 and ranked #14)
2003 - 23-0 win over #6 Auburn in Auburn (Auburn went on to finish 8-5 and unranked)
2004 - no games against SEC opponents
2005 - 70-17 win over Arkansas (Arkansas went on to finish 4-7 and unranked)
2006 - 50-14 win over Arkansas (Arkansas went on to finish 10-4, win the SEC West, and ranked #15)
2007 - no games against SEC opponents
2008 - no games against SEC opponents
2009 - no games against SEC opponents

They would've won another title or two if the playoffs had been a thing at the time.
2003 they'd have had to beat Oklahoma then likely LSU and Saban a week later. 2004 they'd have had to beat Texas w/ Vince Young then possibly Auburn gets their shot next week

Just so we are clear, SC has an all-time 21-12-1 record against the SEC (this includes over SEC teams coached by Rpbert Neyland, Johnny Majors, Tommy Tuberville, Bear Bryant, etc.). The only issue is their record against Bama, which stands at 2-6.

They beat the ever loving dog shite out of Arkansas. I do remember that. Think they dropped 70.
Yeah and that Arkansas team went to the SECCG.
They also whooped Auburn a couple of times, I think.

In fact, I remember USC never wanting to schedule the bigger SEC schools.
They opened the 2003 season at #6 Auburn and absolutely took them to the cleaners. Carroll's teams never ducked competition. Their biggest problem was that they played up or down to the level of their competition more than any team I can remember. I think Carroll's rah rah cheerleader persona played into that a lot.

Auburn was preseason #4...Leinart was making his first start, they beat Auburn 23-0 at Jordan-Hare.
They beat Arkansas 70-17 scoring 40 points in the 1st half and 28 points in the 1st quarter.
#4 Georgia beat Arkansas 23-20.
#3 LSU beat Arkansas 19-17.

Revisionist history of some posters is amazing.
SC was never ducking anyone. They played anyone anywhere. They also allowed teams like Fresno their shot at them.
SC schedule OOC was impressive
2002
Auburn, @ Colorado, @ KState
2003
@Auburn, BYU, Hawaii, @Notre Dame
2004
@Va Tech, @BYU,
2005
@ Hawaii, Arkansas, @Notre Dame, Fresno
2006
@Arkansas, Nebraska,
Plus usually 3 to 4 PAC 10 opponents were ranked as well.

Where are the impressive teams they played?

There's a video of that 2005 SC Arkansas game, where despite annihilating OU for the title the year before, Arkansas players were so SEC biased and cocky, that after they tied the score with SC at 7-7 early in the first quarter...
They were heard on the sidelines saying, they're just an average SEC team, we got this.
They lost 70-17.
SEC refused to buy into USC during those years despite their utter dominance over SEC feams.

And I hope USC will now start scheduling these types of games again. Much more exciting to go to Auburn, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, then have home games versus San Jose State.
2024 in Vegas is a start.

SEC teams did not want to schedule USC after those early Carroll years.

they beat the hell out of everyone especially when it was top 10 matchups. He was crazy good in those.

There is one thing you can say about SC and UCLA they will come play you if you are willing to come to their place and play. They love home and homes but will not do 2 for 1 or 3 for 1
If you want a shot at them like Fresno and Boise tried to get they'll give you a shot. OU under Stoops was like that as well. The SEC and B1G took the Mike Leach method of scheduling, get easy wins at home and then hope you can find enough bad conference games to make people think you're better than you are.
Miami used to be that way before Shannon got there. It probably has to do with ACC, but Randy Shannon ended most of the big road games with the Canes.

They were awesome in big games, especially big games on the road.
This will sound weird, but I've always believed this: in 2003, if USC and LSU played in the Rose Bowl, LSU would have won. If they played in the Sugar Bowl, USC would have won, because they were so, so good in huge road games. That's kind of how they operated.
