This one is a head scratcher. Large population center with the 3 coastal counties. Very close to Mobile, AL and New Orleans. Neither city has a baseball team. All the casinos and conferences along the gulf coast. You’d think they would have better attendance. It’s so walkable too and close to all the casinos.

I bet if they remodeled with some slot machines and casino aspects in the outfield, attendance would go up. Lol dad can watch baseball with kids and mom can hit up the penny slots and watch out the window.

Mobile, AL

Has the Bay Bears.

But the reality is on the gulf coast and Deep South unless you’re talking about a true night game I have zero desire to sit on a metal bleacher seat in July when it’s 95 with 90% humidity.

And I certainly wouldn’t drive an hour or two to do it.

The Bay Bears moved to Madison, AL in 2020 and became the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Maybe a little, but it’s still a regional sport and does not have a national following like college football and basketball.

My mistake.

I drive by that park occasionally and didn’t realize they’d left.

frick their attendance woes. Hard to get to the minor league park when Braxtyn and Jaxon are in the cages until 9 p.m. Plus, have you seen the garbage they have to eat at these ball parks? Exit Velo ain’t going to increase on a diet of nachos and Dippin’ Dots in the shade.

Biloxi Shuckers routinely have the lowest attendance

Ownership was awful when they were the Huntsville Stars. If they haven't changed since their move, that could explain it.

It’s hard to believe New Orleans, Jackson, Mobile, and soon-to-be Biloxi have all lost their teams in the last 4 years.

The Shuckers attendance is on par with the rest of the Southern League. Small Stadium equals small crowds but even with what they average they are profitable!

Demolish smith wills and build a state of the art stadium, minor league size. Whatever it is it should be the Jackson --- something.

Trustmark park in Pearl has been there about 15 years and it’s. Pretty nice AA stadium. Just hard to draw attendance in the summers in the Jackson metro

We’ve been going to more Shucker games the past 2 years and really enjoy it. It is a short drive from the Northshore, tickets are cheap, decent AA baseball, and their food options are not horrible.

With the M-Braves leaving central Mississippi needs baseball. How does this happen? I guess I'll have to wait for a millionaire to buy a team. The stadium is already built though I hate the location.

The M-Braves were either last or second to last in attendance last season. I’m going to be sad to see them go because I enjoy the games but Jackson ain’t big enough to support a minor league team anymore.

Speaking of, I think a Northshore team could be a good idea for Mandeville. Put a new stadium in Pelican Park off the newly approved second entrance road near 1088/I-12 It would connect to Tammany Trace and would be a gold mine if they could lure 5% of the ten million kids/parents who seem to descend on the park every night of the year.

Yes I’ve been thinking and hoping for this for years! Call them the Mandeville Mudbugs or something corny like that. Covington Crawfish could also work if a Northshore team was up that way

It's what the Braves do. When a lease approaches expiration, they shop around, always wanting a brand new stadium. They've screwed over a lot of cities.

Last few years, they barely marketed the team.
