Irvin revealed that his wife Sandy, 58, has early onset Alzheimer’s. She has been dealing with the disease for five or six years. She has trouble walking and speaking and requires 24-hour care with a live-in caretaker.
Irvin said he has no intention of putting her in a home, no matter the cost.
“If anyone has earned the right to stay in her house, MY WIFE HAS!!!,” Irvin said in an exclusive text to the Star-Telegram. “That I shall honor. No matter what it takes.”
Irvin and Sandy, who met in college at Miami, have been together for 39 years, married for 34.
Irvin asked for prayers for his family.

Dang that sucks. Good on Irvin for being a man and doing right for his wife

Would have never guessed he was even married, much less to the same woman for 34 years,

That’s terrible, and at a young age for her. It sounds awful but hopefully the Good Lord will find it in his mercy to take her from this soon.

Prayers for his wife and family. I’ve seen men with lesser means leave their wife when they face adversity. If you are lucky you can overcome your mistakes in your 1st half of life in your 2nd half of life.

I mentioned him in my book...and I honestly hate to hear this.

horrendous disease that punishes you and the family, till death.
1 day everyone is hanging out seeing mom, 2 days later she doesn't know anyone, and it's absolutely heart breaking.
i would never wish alz or dementia on anyone, just brutal to person and their family and loved ones.

Imagine the shite that poor woman has had to endure over the years with that slimeball.

I don’t wish that on anyone.

Getting diagnosed with Alzheimers in your early 50s seems crazy. What a terrible thing

My mom was diagnosed at 54 and died at 61. It’s a fricking horrible disease. Worse than cancer.

He is saying that now......

Cancer, even the worst, can miraculously go away, but alzheimers never recedes, it will never go away.

That sucks. I've known a few couples that had either the husband or wife come down with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia and it is a virtual life sentence for both of them unless they can afford some very serious help from outside agencies or have relatives to help out.

Very sad and frightening to contemplate.

Obviously his wife tolerated a lot. Michael Irvin is a fricking idiot, especially in his playing days.
