Or, more plausible, no one wants to hire a coach that will be 72 in 3 months. Especially an organization that is not in a tight Super Bowl window, and one that would prefer longevity.

Hey look, I'm just happy the Failcons hired Raheem.

The teams that are considered "a coach away" like Dallas, Philly, or Buffalo didn't come open. Teams like Atlanta that need some personnel building shouldn't want GM Bill showing up with coach Bill.

1. I assume he didn't take the Falcons job because of Rich McKay.
2. I'd be wary of hiring him because he'd probably duck out after getting 15 more wins to pass Shula.

Those first three Super Bowls were won on the back of elite defenses built by Belichick.
I'd guess there are at least 25 teams who would fire their current coach to hire Belichick right now if he would relinquish personnel control. He's still a very good coach, and you can tell because their defense is still really good.
New England hasn't had a draft pick who signed a second contract since 2013. That's the problem.

This is such a lazy take considering those early super bowl teams were known much more for their defense. Also an unreal level of preparation led to the Seattle int on the goal line that won another super bowl. Brady is certainly a big part of it but down playing how important the head fricking coach was to those runs is just dumb and lazy.

Eh, it’s hard to say that Brady was the reason they won so much in the first 3rd of his career. Hell the season he missed with an injury they still won 11 games.

It’s really pretty simple, GMs are scared to lose their jobs and are advising owners not to hire BB.

No, Brian lost his ability to find talent.
They built their team off finding gems in 2nd nad 3 rounds trading out of first.
Then, when his ability to find gems and raw talent diminished, so did the pats ability to compete on high level

He interviewed for one job with an owner who likes to think and act like he has the depth of knowledge of both the coaches and GM.
Bill will get a job if he wants but he first will have to give up his total control philosophy with personnel

Bill still wants power to make personnel moves. He has been really bad at it in recent years and it's what might keep him from coaching again.
It's been reported that he asked for a lot of players decisions in his recent interviews. Blanc. Is a koton who thinks he's the GM, he ain't giving that power away

It's because he's enamored with being the organization and he's 70+ years old. If he only wanted to be a coach, he'd be with Atlanta right now.

Literally look at the early playoff win scores. A lot of them were low scoring defensive affairs. Obviously Brady was clutch too but their top 10 or 5 defenses made it a easier as well
Also there’s plenty of shitty coaches they keep getting rehired in the league. It’s because he’s old and whoever would hire him would have to look for another coach in few years after he retires

The 500-pound gorilla in the room is not that he’s never won without Brady, it’s that THE DUDE IS FRIGGIN’ OLD!!!! Ain’t no NFL team chomping at the bit to hand total control as he would demand to a soon to be 72-year-old.

Built by or coached by? When did Bill become the GM?
