These pay for everything.

IMG had a golf program that was legit. Have not checked in on lately but I suspect it is still very, very legit.

I just don't understand how the economics work when you're bringing in a lot of players from impoverished homes and the school can still afford to offer everything it does.
The travel ball parents who want little Timmy to be exposed pay a literal ton of money for them to go there. Other than that, I don’t think IMG is too concerned. They want to get an inside track on being agents for the top athletes

at IMG there are multiple teams
the national team - elite level players
the varsity team - the HS team - 10th to 12th graders
the junior national team - the JV Team - 9th and 10th graders
middle school team - 6th, 7th and 8th graders
my buddy’s son went there as a freshman and left before his senior year
he started for the varsity team as a junior at PG
his son said it was an awesome experience but it was very intense and kind of a drag because it was a full time job
depending on the numbers there could be two junior nat teams, two varsity teams etc
but there is only one national team - those kids dont pay to be there
the national team plays other elite teams
the varsity plays some elite teams and a lot of HS programs but they are not in the FHSAA
IMG is no different than any other sports focused boarding school

They also run summer camps that usually fill up to capacity.
I know someone that just sent his kid for 3 weeks and spent about $15k.

No shite, I need to see if I can pay for Junior to just live there and catch a yellow dog to closest public school.

Think of it like a university. The best athletes are on full ride scholarships, but the vast majority of students attending are paying huge amounts of tuition.

Did he get recruited from it? Interested to know how many get offers from the sub National squad

So do they have like a recruiting department that goes out and recruits these guys from across the country to come to IMG? Do they also worked out the financial details with the parents because many of the parents can barely afford to put food on the table, much less move their son across the country to attend a prestigious and extremely expensive high school.
Also, since they are not governed by the Florida High School Athletic Association are allowed to pay these players to come?

he went back home to for his senior year. Had problems with the HS Basketball HC because he was going to beat out the HC's next door neighbor's kid for the PG job and a lot of the kids resented him for leaving and then coming back
So he didnt have a good situation his senior year of HS and the turmoil soured him on basketball. After he graduated he had some low level D-1 offers and some preferred walk on offers to mid-majors but he was done with organized basketball and went to get a degree at a state school on an Engineering Scholarship
At IMG the national squad (the elite level) kids are the 3, 4 and 5 star kids and come from all over the world and are on full scholarship usually because they were recruited/placed there - unless they came from the Varsity ranks from the Academy and worked their way up.
the IMG varsity team will have guys good enough for low level d-1 and below that are paying their way - but they are eligible to earn a IMG scholarship to cut costs

I went for two years. Yes my parents forked over the cash for me to attend, at the time it was $36k+$7k for boarding. What a lot of the kids I attended with were/are trust fund kids and the parents didn't want to "raise" them. They had been there for almost 6-7 years sometimes more. They were pretty amazing athletes but had no deep drive to be successful beyond that. Had a handful of friends that were friends and family supported, basically friends and family put money towards future possible earnings/scholarships etc. My parents did it as a hedge for scholarships which it did to an extent.
I cherish those friendships to this day. I have visited a few of them in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Canary Islands in my travels. I also felt like I became an adult at 15 because you don't have anyone but yourself to get you up and to class or practice. If you don't show up, no one cares.
My golf coach came to my wedding almost 15 years later. He is on Christmas card list.

yes
they have coaches involved in AAU that see kids and scout them and offer them opportunities to visit the campus
some of the kids come from overseas and are placed at IMG by agents, government officials and directors of national basketball organizations

dont think so, the national and the varsity teams still play HS teams and so they are not allowed to be professional athletes

yeah very good academics
my buddy's son went there 3/4 years of HS and got a full academic scholarship to a state school for Engineering
he graduated with honors with a ChemENg degree

Yeah that’s the big difference between IMG and a lot of the other schools centered on sports.
Besides the top notch facilities, the kids will qualify academically and be in a position to succeed.
At Bishop Sycamore, the QB wasn’t even cleared to attend Grambling, when he was considered good enough to otherwise get a scholarship.

There isn’t a private school out there that wouldn’t kill to have those numbers.

I have a client whose son plays lax for IMG.
I have a feeling the parents of the kids in the non-urban sports (lax etc ) are offsetting the cost of the “charity cases”

This… why even have football (or baseball or basketball) if you’re IMG… those are the most costly sports and not what you do the best. Your target clientele doesn’t need a football team to know about the school, and it’s not like you’ll have multi-sport athletes like most high schools. If they’re paying all that money it’s all about specialization
