They put up insane numbers that year including putting up 48 on us that game

A little bit deceptive since the game went to OT and we did limit their offense to one TD in the 2nd half but I will say their offense was unstoppable in the 1st half.

Alabama probably beats Oregon by two scores in 2014.

To be fair, half the SEC that year would have destroyed ND

nope

ND had a PHENOMENAL defense that year. it just so happened that bama had arguably their best OL in program history, and two RBs who could start for 128+ teams. I think amari cooper also played for bama in 2012. they were one of the VERY few, maybe only team that could make the irish defense appear inept in 2012

BTW, you won't find a bigger ND hater than me. i watch past highlights of them losing big games all the time

Well it has to be the 1987 Niners and the greatest playoff upset at home against the Vikings.

Niners were #1 in points, #3 points against. No team has ever been in the top 3 in both and NOT won the Super Bowl....except the 1987 Niners.

Niners were 13-2 and set all these records.

The Redskins caught a break. Nines just had a bad day against Minny, fumbles, QB hurt, sloppy play.

They whip the Redskins and then demolish the Broncos in the Super Boal.

Niners should have 3 Lombard's in a row, 1987, 1988, 1989.

The owner almost fired Bill Walsh immediately after the loss to the Vikings in the locker room but his aide talked him out of it.

2008 and 2009, Bama and UF both would have been in the playoff and played again for the title.

I think all of the answers here are pretty straight forward

2012 UGA beats ND
2014 Bama beats Oregon
2023 Bama beats Washington

Michigan v. UGA would have been a better game but UGA still wins.

Bonus
2011 LSU beats OSU
2003 LSU v. USC - No idea
2007 - Ohio State beats Oklahoma
2004 -USC beats Auburn/Utah just as bad as Oklahoma

The 2012 LSU team wasn’t even good by SEC standards from that time but the SEC was so far ahead of everyone else.

I still can't believe osu blew it against Clemson.

To be fair there was a clear strip, scoop and score that was called correctly on the field and reversed by the idiot who reviewed the play. The Clemson player took four steps with possession of the ball and it was somehow reversed. That and the targeting against Shawn Wade when he'd already committed to the tackle and Barbie ducked into the hit.

they didn’t make them look inept, they made them look like children. they could not have physically competed with LSU or Georgia that year no matter what their statistics say

To add to this thread, I would have loved to seen 2019 lsu v Osu. I still can't believe osu blew it against Clemson. They were clearly the better team, IMO.

No one was beating LSU that year, but I also wanted to play OSU to shut Ryan Day up. .

Florida Atlantic gave us a tougher game that year

Everyone knew what was going to happen by Lacy's second carry

It was a strike season… the 83 niners had a better shot at the raiders did.

2017 OU would have had a decent shot, yes. Bama this year. You can also argue Clemson in 17 might have beaten UGA.

Georgia would have run train on them. ND needed a 4th down "stop" to beat Stanford in OT (Stepfon Taylor actually scored on that play, but ND got some major home cooking). They needed an "epic" goal line stand to hold on late against a 5 win USC team. They got a mulligan at home against an awful Pitt team because Pitt had two guys on the field with the same jersey number when ND missed an overtime FG.

That was the worst 12-0 team I've ever seen in college football. Alabama could have beaten them by 50+ if Saban felt like it. Georgia, Florida, A&M, LSU, and South Carolina would have all beaten them by 20+.

Eddie Lacy ran through them like they weren't even there. Imagine what Todd Gurley would have done.
