Every year when one of the big network gets the opportunity to air the Super Bowl, they usually overhaul their scorebug and overall look. This may be what we’re getting from FOX this cycle..

Saw that the other day. Looks like shite if that’s really what they’re going with.

I like it. Clean and minimalist. But god help us if the third quarter is more than 71 minutes.

I dont mind it but the team font is a little too blocky

I actually like it. Less is more.

Bring back the glowing puck

I like the fact that’s it’s a little throwback to the 90’s. I’m seeing people who were born in the 2000’s hating this because they’re used to a bunch of information thrown on one screen. Sometimes less is more

They should go old school back to the days where they didn’t even show the score except for a maybe couple times between commercials. Growing up any time someone would come in the room when the game was on the first question was “What’s the score?!?” The usual answer was “I don’t know!!”

THIS! I’ve always been a fan of occasionally showing the score. Adds a little bit of suspense imo

Didn't NBC also change theirs for the Super Bowl 3 years ago? I didn't like how much space FOX's old scorebox took up. Or the constant stats right next to it.

They did. CBS tweaked theirs last year as well. NBC will be up for one next season

those effects aren't so special

According to Awful Announcing, 1994 was FOX’s first year with the NFL. "Up until this, no network partner had a continuous score graphic on screen." Evolution of the score bug

Here's how much FOX's have changed over time. The clear box in the top corner of their early years was always my favorite. I don't remember what happened that game, but I remember watching 49ers/Broncos in 2006 thinking "why is the scorebar suddenly different from what has been used all year?".
I do agree with the "less is more" thought. I don't need all the fake graphics on the field for the 1st down, line of scrimmage, FG range for a kicker, field shaded darker green when someone enters the red zone, shaded box on the field for the new kickoff rule, annoying down and distance arrows in the middle of the field when the down and distance is already included in the scorebox.

It looks like they used the font from the actual FOX logo.
The C in KC looks lind of like the O in FOX.

Did you used to work for ABC/CBS/NBC Sports prior to 1995? Because they deliberately didn’t have a bug to keep viewers interested.

Looks good. I agree with the other poster. Team names are a bit blocky.
