This is not my list. I merely asked an AI program what it thought about the topic and this is what it came up with:
10. 2018 Rose Bowl: Georgia vs. Oklahoma: Georgia defeated Oklahoma in double overtime in a thrilling College Football Playoff semifinal game.
9. 2003 Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs. Miami: Ohio State upset Miami in double overtime, winning the national championship and ending Miami's 34-game winning streak.
8. 1982 Stanford vs. California: The game ended in a 25-20 victory for Cal after the famous "The Play," which included five laterals and a California touchdown.
7. 1991 Orange Bowl: Colorado vs. Notre Dame: Colorado's controversial 10-9 victory over Notre Dame propelled them to a share of the national championship.
6. 2007 Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. Oklahoma: Boise State's underdog triumph over Oklahoma, sealed with a daring Statue of Liberty play in overtime, captured the imagination of fans everywhere.
5. 1980 Holiday Bowl: BYU vs. SMU: BYU's dramatic comeback victory, capped by a last-second Hail Mary pass, helped elevate college football's national profile.
4. 1966 Notre Dame vs. Michigan State: Ended in a controversial 10-10 tie, but featured two of the greatest teams in college football history.
3. 1984 Orange Bowl: Miami vs. Nebraska: The Hurricanes won their first national championship with a 31-30 upset over the heavily favored Cornhuskers.
2. 2006 Rose Bowl: Texas vs. USC: A thrilling national championship game won by Texas, 41-38, featuring memorable performances by Vince Young and Reggie Bush.
1. 1971 Nebraska vs. Oklahoma: Dubbed the "Game of the Century," it ended in a 35-31 victory for Nebraska.

No LSU Bama 2011 Game of the Century is a joke. That’s the second best game I’ve ever seen in my life right under the 2006 Rose Bowl. Great defense is fun to watch too.

USC vs LSU and LSU vs Arkansas Cotton Bowl could have certainly made that list.

No 2013 Iron Bowl? List is shite.

The game didn’t count. Why should it be considered?

Or Neanderthal Lee Miles offense, amiright? I mean high schools were running more complicated schemes. He and Bama just tried to out-talent each other. How many times can you watch an I-Power Dive in one game?

I think 2005 SC-Notre Dame should be on there somewhere. Classic game that exceeded the hype.

LSU-Bama 2019 and 2022 were better IMO

When I asked Chat GPT, what is the greatest CFB game of all-time it gave me this:
quote:
Determining the greatest college football game of all time is subjective and can depend on various factors such as personal preference, the significance of the game, and historical context. However, one game often cited as one of the greatest is the 2006 Rose Bowl between Texas and USC. It was a thrilling match-up between two powerhouse teams, culminating in a dramatic fourth quarter and ending with Texas quarterback Vince Young's game-winning touchdown run.

The Boston College-Miami game won on the Doug Flutie to Gerald Phalen Hail Mary is my pick for greatest college football game of all time.

2007 LSU vs Florida has to get some love. But I was at the USC vs Texas game, got to be the top imo.

1993 Notre Dame vs Florida State, 1988 Catholics vs Convicts Notre Dame vs Miami, 1987 Miami vs Florida State stand up really well against those games if you want to address quality of play
Also 1987 Fiesta Bowl Miami vs Penn State still the most-watched game in college football history IIRC

Came down to the wire and had hype leading up to it. Major upset. But there's a bias against low scoring games, and later revelations about JoePa work against that one.
Too bad because it was a great game.

Wasn't even the best game that day, IMO.
-Michigan handed Penn State their only loss of that season 27-25 on a touchdown pass to Mario Manningham on the final play of the game. This may have been Paterno's best team.
-WVU replaced Adam Bednarik at QB with some unknown freshman named Pat White, erased a 24-7 deficit with 10 minutes left, and eventually upset undefeated Louisville 46-44 in 3OT.
-Undefeated Texas Tech lost a 21-0 lead at Nebraska. Trailing 31-27, TT threw an apparent game clinching interception with under a minute left, only for the Nebraska defender to try and run it back instead of falling down. He fumbled, TT got the ball back, and eventually scored the game winning touchdown with :10 left on 4th down.
To me, Texas/USC Rose Bowl will always be the correct answer to this question.
