Random Twitter user (to me at least) says baseball is the hardest sport to play because of the way elite athletes look trying to pitch and catch.
This guy is so off base here lol. But I’m sure he was looking for clicks.

Baseball is the hardest sport to play, but not because CJ Stroud looks like a toddler doing pitch and catch.

I agree that baseball is the hardest sport to play. Anytime a professional athlete can fail 70% of the time and be considered to have had a great year, you know it's hard.
I remember Deion Sanders had an interview with someone and they were talking about all the sports he played growing up, in college and pro's, football, baseball and track and he said the hardest thing he ever did was try and hit a baseball.

Put a baseball player on a bike, tell him to ride up a mountain in the Tour de France and see how much he struggles.

No, I don't want the baseball player to call me gay for suggesting that.

A bit anecdotal as at least I would wager most baseball players can ride a bike, not elite but at least ride it. Now do you think a higher percentage of MLB players can ride a bike or Tour de France riders hit off a 65 MPH pitching machine? Same goes for NBA players vs MLB players hitting FT's or layups? NFL players vs MLB players throwing or catching a football? There are definitely athletes who can do it all, but most professional athletes struggle hitting off a 65 MPH machine throwing flat, that isn't even accounting for breaking pitches or 80+ fastballs with movement. Hitting D1 and higher (even elite HS) pitching is one of, if not the most difficult athletic feats there is.

While I will admit that the riders in the Tour de France are some absolute cardiovascular freaks, I believe a baseball player could ride up the mountain, it might take a while but I believe they could do it. A Tour de France rider wouldn't come close to getting a hit against an elite college or high school pitcher much less an MLB pro.

i'm imagining prime westbrook snatching homers as a center fielder then striking out on 3 pitches 4 times

Take a bike rider, give him a bat, and tell him to hit 100mph with movement and see how mich he struggles

It's hard and when you see a player like Judge get off to the slow start he had this year but now is rounding back into form, no one ever thinks a player like that will struggle.
Same with Bregman, maybe he finally broke out of his slump last night.

Nobody loves sucking their own dick as much as a baseball douche who constantly has to tell everyone how hard their sport is

Why don’t we have the average MLB player face off against Magnus Carlsen in chess while we are at it?

I mean it's a skill-based sport that has more in common with golf than sports like football or basketball. Very apples and oranges comparison. And if we're talking about the hardest sport to master, the answer is tennis and it's not even close. There's been successful athletes in football, basketball, baseball, golf, and boxing who started playing the sport as teenagers. If you don't start playing tennis by seven or eight years old, you have zero chance of becoming a professional. It's only sport where you have to start playing it at five or six years old to become a top professional.

Really, it is just one aspect...albeit a core aspect....that is incredibly hard.
Most athletes, even those who aren't in great shape. can generally field groundballs, catch a fly ball, and run the bases. Not at a gold glove level, of course. But doable. Hitting on the other hand is incredibly difficult. But it doesn't require being incredibly athletic. It' requires exception mind-hand-eye coordination that very few people have.
The debate is really over athleticism vs. skill. I would say most NBA and NFL players could easily handle the "athleticism" requirements of baseball because they are not that rigorous. On the flip side, I would say well less than 25% of MLB players could handle the athleticism requirements of the NBA/NFL. However, very few (probably well less than 10%) of NBA/NFL players could have reasonable success hitting MLB pitching. They may be better "athletes" than most MLB players. But being a world-class athlete doesn't automatically translate into baseball success.

go ask any 2 sport athlete. go ask deion and bo jackson....which was harder.
there is a reason all these QBs that were drafted, chose football, much more of a sure thing vs baseball.

this is not a one way street. show me baseball players trying to play soccer. they look significantly worse than cj stroud looks throwing a baseball

I remember some people saying Kyler Murray was dumb for choosing football over baseball because they see major league salaries and less of a toll on the body. I don't think those guys realize how hard it is to make the show in the first place, and the way contracts work, you basically get your signing bonus and then make dirt until arbitration years down the line before ever finally getting that big contract, and it's a big "if" you even get there. Being a #1 overall pick at QB in the NFL is, like you said, much more of a sure thing financially.
He entered the league with a 4 year $35 million contract as the #1 overall NFL pick. Paul Skenes got a record signing bonus of $9.7M as #1 overall MLB pick but how long you think it'll take him to get the next $25M?

Well if you fail.at the plate 70% of the time and make the HoF, that should be an indicator that baseball is a losing battle most of the time.
