What’s going on with Coach Prime’s legs/feet?

Any health/medical experts out there know what he did initially or why he’s having all these issues?
Seems like other former NFL players don’t have all these issues later in their career, but maybe they’re just not as public as Deion?

Sanders has experienced leg and foot issues since 2021. His big toe and the toe next to it, as well as both sides of his left calf, eventually had to be amputated due to blood clots. Deion Sanders will undergo surgery to remove blood clots in one of his legs on Thursday, the Colorado head football coach’s second procedure in four weeks. Sanders, who had blood clots removed from his left thigh and below his left knee just last month, shared the news Wednesday on his namesake son’s YouTube channel, USA Today reported. He will eventually require more surgeries, including to remove blood clots in his right thigh.
Although fully recovered, Sanders now has a limp, and he describes the incident as a near-death experience. The remaining two toes on that foot are hammertoes, which are unnaturally twisted and bother him.
Their coach said on the video that this is how the devil operates. “He thinks that if he stops my mobility, he can stop my ability,” Sanders maintained. “He can’t do that.”
Once among the NFL’s fastest players, Sanders noted that his ability is God-given, and while one could delay it, “you can’t deny that,” he said.
Regardless, the former NFL star is banking on being able to sprint on the field for his first game in charge of the Buffaloes on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Amon G. Carter Stadium at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. “I promise you when we go to TCU, I’m running out in front of our team,” Sanders said, USA Today reported. “I promise you that.”

That sounds like Diabetes to me that wasn't handled appropriately. I'm certainly not diagnosing him but this is what it sounds like
I say that having a father who had his big toe amputated and they are always worried about blood clots because it increases the risk of plaque buildup. He was drinking a gallon of that orangina daily and was full diabetic and let it go way too long

It sounds like something similar. I had a family member that essentially died from diabetes. Aside from being on dialysis, eventually had to have multiple amputations due to poor circulation & blood clots.

I’m no doctor, but it sounds like he’s having a tough time tackling diabetes

A friend in Jackson that works at UMMC told me last year that he almost lost his entire foot and was still only thinking of short term solutions as far as treatment goes. In short- many there don’t have a ton of sympathy for him.

I understand if he would just want to keep that private, but I haven’t seen anything confirming he is diabetic.
It makes the most sense, but I’m not sure that’s it.
His daughter actually came out publicly & said she is a type 1 diabetic, so it seems strange he would want to keep it private.
Seems like this is the issue, but not sure if Diabetes is the root cause of it.

The former Jackson State coach faced life-threatening blood clots and used a wheelchair in the late 2021 season due to a critical health situation. In 2021, he underwent a total of nine surgical procedures.
While it is important to recognize that diabetes can raise the risk of arterial plaque accumulation, leading to dangerous blood clots, there is no confirmed information about whether Deion Sanders has diabetes.
Seems like this is the issue, but not sure if Diabetes is the root cause of it.

The condition Deion Sanders is suffering from is known as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). DVT is a medical condition characterized by the development of blood clots in deep veins, commonly in the lower leg, thigh, or pelvis.

This isn't a football related health issue.

If their "long term" solution included amputation, I'd tell them to f off too.

would you tell them to f off it was the difference in living and dying? Blood clots can kill you.

why he’s having all these issues?
Is he vaxxed? Boosted?
ETA: go to the Dr for literally anything and it’s the second or third question asked. It’s a fair question, heh?

If you have diabetes, the sugar is not used for energy, it rather builds up in your blood stream causing changes in your blood and arteries leading to formation of blood clots. Thus, diabetes is one of the risk factors that can increase your chances of developing DVT. Blood clots and deep vein thrombosis increase the risk of developing heart disease and stroke in people with diabetes. Other risks are damage to the kidneys, nerves and eyes.
People with diabetes have elevated levels of fibrinogen that pose a strong risk factor of developing CVD. High levels of fibrinogen make the blood sticky thus resulting into clots.
So they are linked in some ways for sure. It's a tough illness. Type 2 you can turn back almost completely with a good diet. My dad thinks he eats healthy but legit has like 6 bags of ruffles of varying flavors on the table every time i go home and eats 2-3 serving a day in addition to pouring Caesar dressing on his salads by the liter

Deion has also had foot and toe problems since his playing days. If you combine turf toe and all those issue with an undiagnosed/mistreated diabetic, then that is kind of a recipe for disaster.
I know back when he had a reality show 10+ yrs ago he used to ride around on a scooter b/c his feet were so bad.

I have had type 2 diabetes since I was 20, and I was rail skinny at the time. It hasn't affected me too badly, but I know others who have been profoundly affected. One of my uncles lost toes due to the disease; one of my friends had a leg amputated, and has since passed. One of my childhood friends, who was much older than I (We were friends from when I was 5 until I was 12; he was 57 years older than I was) had diabetes, and it got really bad the last year, and he died due to complications of it (He was VERY heavy). I'm much younger still, but I know as I age, it will become more of an issue if I do not control it. However, I know a couple of brittle diabetics; it does not matter what you do, it's very difficult to manage.

These things happen. We all know attractive fit women who get breast cancer before 40 and dudes in shape who get cancer and die. He has either bad luck or his diabetes was not diagnosed earlier. He has always been in shape but sometimes these things happen.
