I finally understand the ending.

When Henry rips the tape off his glove and sees "Mary" written on it, then instantly picks her out of the crowd at Wrigley (which always makes me laugh, btw) and they have a "It was you?" "It was me!" moment.

I cannot believe it took me until the age of 26 to realize it. I feel like all the unanswered questions of my childhood have now been resolved. Life suddenly makes sense to me. so much clarity, so much hindsight, so much closure.

Today is a new day ladies and gentlemen.

You never realized Mary was his mother?

Henry thought it was his dad that had played baseball. Then he saw his mom's name on the inside of the glove while standing on the mound. She was actually the baseball player.

One of my favorite movies growing up. Plus I just like to analyze the hell out of every tv show and movie I watch.

As great as this movie was, the "It was you?" moment is easily one of the stupidest movie moments in my lifetime.

I cringe every time I see that part.

Not to mention, the way he floated the final pitch is totally illegal and a balk should have been called.

I love the scene where they go eat lunch with becky and her friends. George is talking to the girl across the table and the other friend is in hes ear making fun of him. such a good movie.

I agree that the "It was you" moment was stupid, but how could you not have ever known that it was her that played baseball? The movie beats you over the head to make it crystal clear. You're not too smart, are you..?

clearly not

i guess it had been so long since i had sat down and watch the whole movie from start to finish (instead of randomly picking it up on ABC family or something) that i never really paid enough attention to it.
