I have always been a big fan of Zorro and he rides again in a new series from Amazon Prime. I am on episode 10 of 10 and it has been the best series that I have watched in awhile.
The first episode is a bit cheesy but the cast settles in their roles and they tone down the cheese a bit. Also, I recommend watching it in Spanish as it is a Spanish show and the cast is all Spanish. I tried watching the first episode with the english dub and it was awful!
Definitely check it out if you are a fan of Zorro!

Most of the actors speak English and dubbed their own lines in English, so it isn't as stilted as a dubbed show.
BTW the Original Zorro was in Ted Lasso "Futbol is Life!"

Fair enough! I just found it not to line up very well and had more enjoyment with the Spanish.

I would say so far pretty good, watched all 10 episodes. Honestly, the worse part if the Indian woman who thinks she is Zorro. It certainly is not terrible. Also, this Zorro sure does get stabbed and captured lot!

I watched all 10 episodes in three days when it came out. Most everything has been mentioned
The dubbing threw me off at first. I was like why does it look like the words aren’t quite matching up with the mouth movements. Then I read that it was a Spanish production and I had my answer and it didn’t bother me anymore
Woman zorro is kinda aggravating, but not too much of a hindrance.
Lolita is an absolute smoke show and it’s worth watching just for her
The real zorro may be the worst of all time. He does very little right or good. And like you said he gets stabbed way too much lol
I did like that they changed how zorro comes to be and it goes from person to person. I usually hate changes like that but this wasn’t bad at all
The fight scenes weren’t all that great. I know it’s just an Amazon product but thought this could have been much improved
Overall pretty good show. I wouldn’t talk someone out of watching it.

Lolita's hat is weird and out of place for a woman of her times. It's not a big deal, but just strange. Very unlikely that woman of her age and wealth would be out in the fields like they show her. She would not be walking around Los Angles wearing working cloths and that hat.
The most interesting character is the Russian woman. She acts much more like a woman of that time. She is smart, ruthless and outwits her male opponents. She is very cunning and a good villain.
Lolita's mother is a joke of a villain. No way she would have been able to beat Zorro, specifically, Don Diego de la Vega in a sword fight. Or even last more than a few seconds. Look at the skills he showed in the fight where he "killed" Monasterio. But apparently when he goes up against Lolita's mother, he forgets how to fight with a sword. That was bad, in the books Zorro is easily described as the best swordsmen of his day.
The gun fighter character is so over the top as to be stupid. First a man in that era would not wear ear rings. Second, Zorro's foil should be a sword fighter, not a gun fighter. Its hard to tell but no person would have had a revolver like that before at least 1835. It hard to tell but Mexico just took over California from Spain. That means is around 1821 for the show setting. California would not be a territory of the US until 1846. Sam Colt did not patent the first navy colt until around 1839. That "gun" fighter could not have a prototype of something that did not exist for another decade. Its just dumb.

Zorro's timeframe is before the Paterson Colts, much less the Walker Colts and Dragoon models we'd recognize.

Yes, one of the first episodes he loses a fight to a woman Indian that believe she should be Zorro. She later runs him through while he is tied up, but he survives to face her again. She beats him again and right before she is about to kill him, she realizes he is the real Zorro. That was pretty dumb.
Second, Zorro after fighting the Captain of the guard, his rival, in a really good and detailed sword fight. Probably two or three minutes of screen time. Fast chorography, really good fight. Shows both characters are highly skilled swordsmen.
Zorro proceeds to forget how good he is and later in the episode he proceeds to lose to a late-middle aged woman who looks like she never held a sword before. This is the same woman that stabbed him in the back the episode before and defeats him by having someone else stab him in the back, again.
In three episodes, Zorro is stabbed by women in various ways.
